how low do i go ??? - Saxperience

i am currently sitting at standard height and im wondering how low do people say to go without it causing problems ? what is a nice height to sit at ? i use the car daily on a run so the supension cant be extremely stiff....

id say 30 or 40mm is the optimum

see i would like to go 45-50 but i want to know what people with experience say about that height ?

I went 50/60 front/rear caught the exhaust a few times on speed bumps, but the garage has moved the clamp and I havent had any problems since,

its not mega low but doesnt look like a 4x4 any more

mines 50 on the front 60 on the back and it tends to scrap over every speed hump you come across and its rather "bouncy" im raising it to 50mm all the way around with spax all round just for added stiffness as a friend of mine said "raise it to much on standard shocks and itll float around on the back"

mines not to bad, I bought a full apex kit when Kamracing did a multi buy on here a little while ago, ride wise it handles like a dream, you do feel pot holes a little more, but nothing that makes me want to raise it at all..

I dont think there are any 40mm spring kits for the vtr and vts as they come lower out the factory. Most are more like 30mm.

40mm is best for everyday driving. Im 60 atm and its too low to be fair for drivign everday and not bouncing around.

whats your budget,

the more you spend generally the better you are going to get, or you could look out for second hand set ups, keep seeing them in the for sale section,

these people dont know anything by saying 60mm is too low to drive everyday

ive lowered my car 4 times now

from 35 front/40mm rear
to 60mm front / 70mm rear
to 75mm front / 85mm rear,
now at 90mm front / 85mm rear

at 60mm front, 70mm rear i had no problems whatsoever with rubbing or 'bouncing around'
even when it was 75f/85r i didnt really encounter much problems, obviously just had to take it slow over bumps and watch out for potholes

can still take a full car either way and the ride felt fine for an everyday car.

30/40mm got boring and started to look no different to standard.
60mm all round is a nice height to sit at

He days he didnt want to have a harsh ride at all and from personal experience 60mm is a little harsh. Im going lower but i can cope with the consequences some may not!

Surely you had to watch out for speedbumps on 60? I catch my manifold if i dont think about what im doing!

yeah i had to slow down for bumps but i rarely caught anything, even with a full car.
caught your manifold!? ive never caught my manifold at 90mm on the front lol

The spax 60mm springs i had felt alright on the road...
I suppose peoples opinions of stiffness vary. If he wants to keep a standard feel to the ride quality then id recommend eibach 45mm springs.

All depends on what suspension set up your on. Spax 60mm kits have adjustable shocks so you could just adjust them to be softer.
Im down a fair bit more and 60mm, and theres only a couple speedbumps I know of in the whole city that I scrape on, and only one that I know I just wont be able to get over at all without causing any damage. Most are just a case of going slow, and sometimes at an angle!
