Default Head gasket lolz

Doing the head gasket on the mrs 106, pulled the head off it (wahay) to find this



It was running a wee bit lumpy...

Going to take the bottom end and gearbox out at the same time and do pump, tensioner, belt and diff seals and selector roll pin

How does this happen? Strangely ive had a 106 engine in my AX and that cracked as well between 2&3, but the Saxo engines Ive had have never had a problem. Admittedly my AX was looked after but got its cunt kicked in, but the 106 in question is only ever driven nicely.

Just off all the pressure I think. They used to crack and leak water into the cylinder and smash a piston out of the side of the block but I think they're made different now lol

Id imagine excessive heat perhaps? hard to say I suppose. And it's an mls gasket too

i managed that on my brothers S2 16v rallye some (many ) years ago
wouldnt call it lumpy , more like a 2cv with a couple of extra pistons for counterweights!!
Not a nice feeling in the middle of the night on the motorway!
