Skyline GTR discussion
i've had a very heated discussion with my friend and he claims:
1. the skyline gtr was certified by nissan to be "safe" to be remapped to 1000hp on the stock engine, that being said, it's not road legal. furthermore, should you remap a stock skyline gtr to this point and it fails, nissan will take responsibility and fix their car based on these claims
2. supras (and toyota's TRD department for that matter) do not have that same potential on the basis that toyota do not certify remapping the stock engine to the same level.
3. a skyline gtr's ability to beat a supra is NOT down to the AWD system of a skyline
what are you opinions and factual statement you guys have to answer these claims?
im not aiming to prove that a supra is in any way superior to the skyline gtr, however, it is my fav car and he did make these claims to justify the skyline gtr.

Which GTR are you referring to?
Pretty sure point 1 is BS - IIRC the racing cars were only around 500HP, and they wouldn't have been "stock".

All points are bs.
For the latest (gtr vr38dett) engine and what they will take look at litchfields website, rhey have various levels of safe tune shown with appropriate changes, turbos, injectors manifolds exhausts etc, theyre developing a 4200 cc daily driver that pushes 900 at half a bar.

Which GTR are we talking about?
Either way if its the "R35" then a remap to 1000bhp would mean doubling the stock bhp and from just a remap that isn't likely to happen. Same applies if you are referring to the R34 GTR, that would involve nearly quadrupling it.

Some of the import gtr's are 1000bhp stock I'm pretty sure - edit- apparently not,. They're tuned also
There's a couple up our way kicking around that, Jamie at evotune has tuned his to 997 on race fuel

Your friend is a MONGTARD.
The nearest thing you have to this is the warranty Litchfield offer on their performance packages for the GTR, and their warranty extends to their Stage 5 package which is around 750bhp I believe.
Any manufacturer would take any opportunity to void warranty and aftermarket modifications are the easiest get out for them. How could they warranty another companies turbos, camshafts, heads, exhausts and numerous other items fitted by a tuner rather than Nissan themselves lol.

he refered specifically to the r33 model as there would be "no need" to compare any later models as he thinks the supra would simple by left for dead...
i agree with all these points, i just wanted to make sure it wasnt just me in the heat of the moment! i mean, if any of the gtrs were safe to warrenty, surely they would be sold at 1000hp? whatsmore, i know that cars are always tuned down a bit form their "max" potential for longevity and reliability, but cutting back more than half the power seem...bs

all you need to do is install a flux capacitor and you will be hitting a 1000BHP easy on any stock GTR.

Utter madness but i'm jelous, this lad is on the MLR. The sound of his GTR at 1000bhp+ is just awesome....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh3d_Qo3jTI
End of the day though, you'd spend the same amount of money on modifications to push any car over 1000bhp and they probably wouldn't even be useable on the road.... whereas the GTR can actually lay it down.
Perfect car for 1000bhp+ imo.
