Default Big Ducks 16v Engine Rebuild

Been looking for something to keep me ticking over for winter, thought a engine rebuild would be a good idea. I'd found a engine in a yard still in a S but it had 120k on the clock and I'd have to pull it out the car.

Then this one came up for £130 delivered, from a 2003 S with 79k on the clock.

Came with more or less everything I would need to do a S convention, few damaged parts but no biggie. Main thing is I'll need a engine loom.

I've done a few bike engine builds in the past, but I'm sure I'll be doing everyone's head in with questions in the coming months.

That is a seriously good price! Especially with it being a 3 plug lump!

Looks decent

When you say 'rebuild' what do you have in mind?

Yeah I thought it was a good deal, box is supposed to be ok but that's taking someone's word for it.

Going to strip it all down first, get the head off get it cleaned up and skimmed. Be putting new piston rings, race bearings and all that. I'm assuming that it's a good idea to do valve seals as well.

It's as much a learning exercise and boredom stopper. If I ever get to the point where I can't be arsed any more I'm sure it could be parted out.

Do everything you can afford to so with IMO. Valve stem seals are no brainer as is lapping in the valves for a good seal, plus it's therapeutic in a weird way
