Saxo Vs Golf
I am going to get a car soon, but i am not sure whether to get a mk4 1.4 Golf or a 1.4 west coast Saxo.
I would like to know which car is faster, i believe that the Saxo is lighter so it would start off quicker but will the golf catch up eventually?
It is not only the speed that bothers me, but also that the Saxo's interior is not very nice compared to the golfs.
Could any one on here help me choose between the Saxo or the Golf. Thanks

Money you will pay for a 1.4 golf surly you could get a furio or VTR?
But yea acceleration saxo would be quicker after about 60 golf would probs catch up.

Depends what your after. The Sax would be quicker and more fun to drive. But the Golf would be a cosier place to be. Also, i believe you'd be paying more for the Golf as the Mk4's hold money well.
They're two different types of cars tbf, so you cant really compare them.

I cannot imagine the Golf being faster than the Saxo but I'd have the Golf over the Saxo anytime at my age. But this sounds like its for your first car and you'd probably have more fun in the Saxo and it'd be cheaper to run. I can imagine a 1.4 Golf feeling really underpowered.
You made me laugh with 'i believe that the Saxo is lighter so it would start off quicker but will the golf catch up eventually?' , its like you're getting ready for your 'trafik lite rinses bruv'. It would be like comparing a Slug and Snail and asking if the Snail would catch the Slug eventually, neither car will break any speed records.
In summary, Id go for the Golf.

Depends what you're after. Personally I'd say anything less than a 1.6 Golf will feel very underpowered and seriously underwhelming to drive. The saxo will be nippy and they are very fun cars to drive. Tbh this is an impossible comparison to make because they are cars that you would want for completely different reasons. Safety, comfort, practicality? Golf. Fun, err... fun, fun? Saxo.

Totally different cars. With the golf youre paying for a higher level of refinment and safety but the car is going to cost a lot more. The saxo is cheaper, faster, lighter and more fun.
Depends what you want it for, saxo is fun and easily modified, even repairs are cheaper. If you just want a daily driver for work the golfs heavier and more comfortable.

I would go for the golf if its your first car as it is far safer than the saxo but will probably be a little more expensive to run with it being heavy.
I had a 1.4 golf for a week a few years back, very comfy cars and lovely to drive but not very nippy.
