your going get alot of search response for this mate, its asked a couple of times a day!
Depends on your budget of course....
start with breathing mods:
enclosed induction, full decat system
then cams, remap for increase in power

Well if you really wanna keep the VTR, but dont wanna spend too much then do the following
Enclosed Induction
4-2-1 Manfold
Supersprint Race (de-cat) Center Pipe
Nice Piper or Supersprint backbox
Just with these mods you will be able to notice a gain......
Even stripping the whole interior out (just having front to seats), i felt another gain when i did this to my VTR.
But im happy with mine, aint super quick but it nippy enough.
If you wanna spend loads of money also have the following
Newman cams
Re-map
Trottle Bodies
Short Ratio Gearbox (S1 Rallye)
list does go on but you need to think is it worth doing all this to a VTR?

Major strip, usual mods, maybe a nice cam, standalone, throttle bodies, balance the bottom end, high comp forged pistons. Etc etc.
Depending on your budget decide what you want, then search and you will find plenty of info.

buy a faster car , most people i know have a saxo because they like them, and then making them fast is a bonus, if you just want speed buy a ready built turbo car or something? you'll never get " dead fast " in a vtr with the origonal engine and even if you do spend 1500 on cams ect .... you can then get in a vts and think wow my car has this much power, but this vts is standard, and you vtrs had loads spent on it.
exhaust / filter is a start but NO were near what you will want/expect

HAHA !! Well Said
..
cheapest option would be vts engine plus induction kit and exhaust.. altho i bought my vtr just as a first car to fanny about with if i want a fast car i will buy a fast car lol rather than spending loads to make a very slow car into slow car lol if you get what i mean..
