Default My Subtly Modded Posi Blue VTR!! With Custom Built Sound System

ive been on sax-p for some time now, i never really post that much and ive never done my own progress thread! so nows the time

i purchased my 1998 vtr a little under 2 years ago for £800! it was 97% standard, i was 16, and it was the best thing i'd ever brought! i had to wait a few months till i was 17 so i could start driving it, but in the mean time i got down and dirty with it!

This is how the car looked when i purchased it, with one previous owner and 73k on the clock it was a decent investment! it had (still has) a loud, but nice loud, powerflow backbox and a brand new set of fusion front speakers and some fusion 6x9s... i now know 6x9s are the biggest waste of space ever

This is how she stood...
(the current spec can be found at the end of the thread)

[excuse the sidewaysness ]

anyhowwww, not a bad looking ride! i soon began to strip the front end down and cover the car with newspaper, i had a various amount of subtle plans, but nothing too expensive as i was still 16 and was funded only by a paper round

i found myself a tidy little summer job which filled my bank account with £££ now i was still limited to what i could do as i had to save up for insurance and lessons and shit once i hit the big 1 7! using the money i set out on buying lots and lots of spray paint, sand paper and lacquer!

i sanded, primed and sprayed every single bit of black on the car to a glossy black finish! heres a picture of the front being done...

during all of this i'd purchased a set of black angel eyes and smoked rear jewels; both were rather costly but alllll worth it! i also went down the un-unique route of t-cuting the back badges black!! if you havent already guessed this is another posi blue/gloss black theme... dont run away yet theres still bare good stuff left to come!

once the angels were on, i decided to cut my cars feet off and leave it stranded on axle stands

during this stage the calipers were painted, woo

abiding by my colour theme i refurbed my own wheels, this took a long long long long time... but was totally completely worth it!!

FINALLY i turned 17, and for my birthday i received a whole lot of cash! which was all spent on learning to drive etc etc etc, after a few months of learning i passed with a few minors and got insured on my baby! i went too a few shows, and everytime felt left out cause everyone elses cars were on their arse! this is how it was... (think this was en route to trax 2011)

as you can see, ON STILTS! id purchased a 40mm set of spax lowering springs, i wanted to go subtly low but not ridiculously low as there are quite a few speedhumps in my area! no one in my town would drop the torsion bar so i contacted KrisB, and travelled the 6 hour all round journey for him to do it for me!! he done a great job, and ive never once regretted it

so time went on, since it'd been lowered i never really done anything else... but once i hit 18, i ended up getting an average paying job, and started a mechanics course at college! i got back into modifying and was endlessly thinking for the next thing to do!! i had plans, big big plans!

this was and still is how the cars looking externally...

Even got myself a sax-p sticker

thennnnnn, i purchased a set of sparco bucket seats, these set me back a bit but they were 100% worth every penny!!!!

my plan in the late future is to strip everything and go mental track slaggg! but i quite often have 4 passengers so i need the back seats

anyway, my next plan... boot build! i wanted to do it all myself, with no help, and see where i was at when it come to moddingggg! it took me a few months, and all went fairly swimmingly

heres how it looks with no carpet, amps or anything

and then with amps

and then with my sub

now all that was needed was some gay neon lights a carpetting! we had some left over carpet in the garage that was previously used in the lounge... so i used that

now to you it may not look like a world beater... but i myself was very proud of it, and it all works to and looks a treat at night...

along with this i moved the front speakers into the back, and added a set of comps and tweeters!

everything in my system is inphase, it all set me back quite a bit, but i wouldnt change anything! it looks tidy and sounds amazing!!!

i also devised a clever little wiring diagram of how i done it

so heres how she's looking today (well a couple of days actually but, yeah)

PS IM SORRY FOR ALL THE BAD PHOTOS... they were all taken using a mobile phone

so yeah, thats basically it! as you may have noticed there's no major engine mods, or bodywork mods. like ive said in the future i plan on stripping it all out, but that probably wont be for a while cause of my sound system etc! anywaaays ive built this badboy for style not speed

heres my current spec!!

[Performance]
k&n induction kit yO
lowered 40mm all around
powerflow back box

[Interior]

footwell neons

I enjoyed reading this thread you created. you haven't done loads of mods but the mods you have comepleted over the years have transformed the car.

What other plans you got?

i havent got anything major lined up just yet. in the near future im hoping on going slightly lower and fitting a new manifold! i would like to clean up the engine bay and get that looking tidy, yet i dont know where to start! new alloys are also on the agenda, either a set of vts' or pro race 1.2s! but next i plan on getting the roof professionally resprayed black!!

Thanks for the comments guys

Default New pipe has finally been delivered!!

this was supposed to be here last week, somehow got lost in peterborough! but eventually it ended up at my door...

Supersprint race centre pipe! my standard pipe had a slight hole in it, so it was time for a new one!

Should hopefully get round to fitting this early next week! i'll try and do a little before and after video at a later date also!
