Default Uniroyal Rainsport 2's

Whos used these?

Id like to know what you thought of them and what other tyres you have used, or are comparing them to. And what sort of driving you did using them.

I dont care about wear rate and i dont care what your opinion of them are if you havnt used another other tyres.

I would highly recommend these. Had them on my sax since buying new alloys, still have them on the back.

Wear rate is second to none, wet grip is superb and dry grip is just as good.

Check all tyre review sites and you'll see they're seriously underated on this forum.

Haven't had a lot of performance tyres to compare to, particular during the same conditions but I will definately buy them again

(I always recommend these tyres when people ask for some opinions)

Cheers, good review

What tyres have you bought since these to have on the front? How do they compare?

Ive been reading alot about them and theres mixed reviews on here, saying either rediculously shit or really good. The review sites make them sound the best tyre out there in our size!

I used them on my first car, was the first tyre i had ever used. They were really good in the wet i could tell that and definatly lasted well, but they were worn and got replaced rather soon, also my driving expereince and tyre knowledge was basic back then.

So after a more dry weather review i guess.

Thanks again!

Hello mate.
Uniroyal rainsport 2's I had on my 306 1.9TD running a mild tune about 110hp ish.
Used for all sorts of driving from commuting on icy roads, through the wet and in the summer on dry roads.
I gave them tires some stick and never let me down. Would 100% recommend them to anyone wanting a tire you can really push in the wet. You get a great feeling of confidence and can really carry corner speed on these tires without feeling like they'll let go. Lovely tread pattern and great for water dispersion.. never aquaplaned on these

couldn't rate them higher mate, il defo get a set for the saxo

Just read what you said about dry weather, not a single problem in the dry, could really really push hard and never let go.

Oh, and other tires ive used, nexen something or other and some vredsteins

The fronts were replaced with what I had from my old alloys, seriously terrible in comparison. Even a worn rainsport was exceptional in comparison.

Their dry weather grip is surprisingly superb for a tyre with what seems to be such a hard compound and such a great wear rate.

They come highly recommended from me anyway fella

Good review again. I dont push hard at all in the wet tbh but its good to know just in case

Good to hear about dry use aswell. What other tyres have you used out of interest so i can see what your comparing them to.

cheers

Sorry, edited since then mate.. look up!
but yeah, ive drove all different cars with all different types of tires (work for jaguar my mates have quite quick cars) and apart from the 306 being a great handling car the tires are really noticeably great.. couldn't praise them enough. Seriously underated

Thanks.

Its a tough decission. Ive got Eagle F1s GSD3's on all 4 at the moment and they have served me well, extreamly good in the wet and in the dry.

But looking at review sites the Rainsports are alot better. Its difficult though as ive got so much confidence in the F1's compared to other tyres ive used such as Proxes, Paradas, Sdrives, KHUMOS, Avons.

I think il take the gamble though and get some Rainsports, theyre £30 cheaper for a pair over the F1's aswell. Hope they live up to their reviews! Or i might have them for sale on here soon lol

If you've got them for sale well, you've got a buyer before you've started mate haha.
In comparasin to the RS2's ive never drove on eagle F1's but they are great tires and people do rate them highly.. i'd love to be able to have Proxes etc etc but wet weather grip is just dire when you are commuting just aren't up to the job

yes i did matey
i did have them on a corsa xe on the front.
and it gripped ok in the wet(but was running 180bhp)
but they did very well by me in the dry espically on the corners(which is highly needed in a corsa.haha

id buy them again for the right price.
myself i swear by toyo(cheaper) as ive used them on most of my cars
as there just as good as the rainsports but not as good in the wet. but lets be honest who gives it the beans in the wet anyway?

I've got Proxe4's on mine at the moment and they are shocking in the wet. even going slowly round roundabouts, I can feel the car going sideway rather than the direction I want to go! I'm looking at changing to a tyre that is a better wet use tyre, along the lines of the Uniroyals. Looking at the reviews on here I feel I may try them and see how I get on.

Good thread, thanks guys

Defiently rate them well. Better then the normal Toyos, Goodyears, Bridgestones.

In the dry tyre they perform best, simpler to Parda spec 2s(in a different size) in grip/wear, not as much feedback but not the most imporant on road driving.

In the wet they are the best really.

Heard a few reviews on track but they will just do the normal road tyre thing and break up at high temperature. T1R would be better for track but for the price just do the clever thing and buy R888s.

Thanks mate, ive had the parada spec 2's and i thought they were ok... also the way they wear with the split tread pattern. But mainly it was the shoulders which gave way for me, as they just ripped apart. Once theyre heated up they melt down rapidly, too rapidly tbh. If thats how they perform in the dry then they should be pretty good, the parads were awfull in the wet!

I was going to order R888s last night but booked a ticket fro spain instead, here atm!
