Default Paypal

2 quick questions on paypal:

someone has bought something off me from ebay, i gave him my paypal details and he transfered the money to my paypal no problem, now is it safe to stay there? can i now send him my stuff without him getting it back. or do i transfer it from my paypal to my bank account before i send the item.

Secondly i got a message on ebay from a buy saying this
""Hi there. Is the phone generally in good condition. Also does it still connect to itunes Is the screen unmarked. Is the phone blocked at all Would you take 90 pounds delivered at all. I can pay straight away via a paypal gift to save any eBay fees as the take 10% for iPhones of the final sale price. Many thanks Jamie."

Gift card is unsafe right? i should tell him to just pay the fee or whatever it is.

Thanks!

Gifts only unsafe to the buyer not the seller

to the 1st question, the money is fine in the paypal account. it wont go anywhere, only you can send the money back to them for a refund, they have no control of that.

to the 2nd question, theres nothing wrong with them paying by gift, it just avoids fees. however its risky for the buyer, if you never sent the item to them, then they dont really have a leg to stand on as it was a 'gift'

Just to add, it's you that incurrs the fees not the buyer. Someone wanted to buy a 2.6k bike off me with paypal before, would of been £130 fee! Fuck that lol!

Also to add...

If you're selling something to someone who has NOT sent it by a gift, they can still 'dispute' the payment, it's a common scam where people lie about receiving an item (when they actually have) and Paypal make a decision based on any evidence provided.
If you're selling an item keep some form of proof of postage or obtain an acknowledgement that the person has recieved the item and is happy with it, this way if they open a dispute there will be no issues.

This is why sellers prefer people to send payments as a gift as they cannot dispute it as they sent it as a personal gift to the other person.

Hope this helps!

Make sure you send it special delivery or recorded, I would use special. PayPal rarely(if ever) accept a standard first class receipt unless there is proof of it being delivered such as with SD.
