iOS5 Now! + Jailbreak On The Way!
Yes, it's out in a few days but you can have it now. This is the full final retail release.
Very simple to do but does take about 45 minutes if you need to install iTunes, upgrade to iOS5 and then restore your photos etc...
Link
Just follow the instructions. HOWEVER the iTunes in the link doesn't work, use THIS one

What does it mean with
Open up the DMG file (Windows users will need a tool like 7-Zip to do this, and will need to open the .hfs inside the .dmg as well), and find the IPSW file for your device. Drag it to the desktop, or a folder of your choosing.
Where's this DMG file?
Can't get it to work, comes up with error when trying to restore to iOS 5. Do I need to update to 4.3.5 first?
Edit: Sorted, will have a play around later.

iOS5 Jailbreak is on the way! Untethered too!
"iOS 5 untethered jailbreak - What is the current situation ? The well-known iPhone hacker i0nic and the guy behind the untethered hack on iOS 4.3.x jailbreaks has announced about one of the bigger pieces of news. iOS 5 untethered jailbreak is few steps away from you.
iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak Covered :
i0n1c has confirmed on his Twitter account that iOS 5 untethered jailbreak is covered successfully. So the hackers are waiting for the final release of iOS 5 to perform their tests and modification to release the final version of iOS 5 untethered jailbreak. Precisely, the hackers found untethered hack not a new jailbreaks. So the iPhone Dev-team and iH8sn0w would merge this hack on Sn0wbreeze, Redsn0w and PwnageTool to get the iOS 5 untethered jailbreak on your iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4G, 3G, iPad 2 and 1."

Surely they've started their tests as the final release has leaked out?
You reckon they'll be able to get Siri working on the iPhone 4/3GS?

There are browsers for Jailbroken phones that allow flash viewing. There are also apps that allow you to use your phone as a mobile modem. On top of that, iOS5 let you use your phone as a mobile wifi point!

Think I will wait until its officially released and go through Itunes.
Can't be arsed with losing photos and contacts etc.
I don't need to use mine as a 'mobile modem' or 'wifi point' and I don't play flash games and hate websites which are designed in flash so have no reason to Jailbreak.
I also don't mind paying a few quid for a decent app, people that jailbreak download loads of apps for free and then end up with a cluttered screen and apps they don't even use.
I found a decent Cycling GPS app the other day which had 5* reviews but it was £1.99.......I wanted it so I paid it, I earn more than that taking a piss at work!!

I take it you've never used a jailbroken phone then? Screens are only as cluttered as the people that use them allow. By doing the iOS5 update above IS through iTunes and it restores everything so nothing is lost.

I've never had a jailbroken iPhone and tbh, it doesn't really bother me.
I'm happy with how it is

You don't lose anything if you back up and restore...

Haha, that's exactly what I did. Also downloaded apps that were big installs as you didn't have to pay for them and ended up running out of storage
