Driving steady then giving it some beans
I'm assuming this is to do with the ECU.
I've been driving very steady tonight, no high revs and driving very sensibly. I had a nice bit of road and free'd up the throttle (30Mph in gear 3 and tried hitting 60mph/ 70mph)
The car felt so laggy. It just didn't want to pick up speed and was slow.
I went down a few country roads and treated it as a agility course. I came back into a 30mph zone and the car seemed a lot more responsive and picked up acceleration almost instantly.
I can only assume that this is the ECU adjusting the fueling? As i had been driving steady for a while, the ECU thinks this is my style of driving and then reduces the amount of fuel flow? Consequently when i open the throttle up its confused and doesn't have the time to adjust the fuel flow with in a few seconds of me booting it?

Might be a MK2 thing, my MK1 doesn't seem to do this, which is good
& bad i guess. It smashes fuel driving when trying to drive nicely, but it pick's up pretty rapid when you boot it.

I reckon you're imagining things.
Failing that, rag it more?

High mileage engine? regular servicing? give it a full service, you'd be surprised how much more responsive it can make the car, could be bad plugs, bad oil, clogged filters etc.

could be anything really ie faulty coilpack, dodgy coolant sensor, slighty blocked injector or spark plugs might need re-newing or gap clearences setting

when was it last serviced? plugs could be fooked a mate had a similar problem in his vtr only 65k on the clocks and it would bog down and then pick up. changed his plugs for him and serviced it and it hasn't done it since to my knowllage.
my 1.4 is fine picks up nice in 3rd @ 30mph and thats on 133.5k so i don't think the milage will affect it unless the engine hasn't been looked after and is now tired

Serviced only 2 weeks ago. Included plugs and filters. 66k. Serviced pretty much every other month.
Its odd that when you drive It steady for a long while and then boot it its like a turbo diesel, takes a while for the power to kick in.
But if you drive it with some welly and choose to accelerate it picks up speed instantly.

A raceland filter. With big green filter that it clean.
I personally thinks its fuel flow problem/ ecu related. I'm not saying the ecu is corrupt but I think it does nt have the brain power speed to adjust the fuel flow accurately. But when I give it some its nice and responsive and lively. Its like you have to give it some high revs to bring it back to life.

My mk2 vtr used to do this, there was no mil light on the dash either, but when i scanned my car at work it had a code for the MAP sensor, i changed that and it hasnt done it since

if you're on low revs and then try to boot it you have to wait for the engine to get into the power band. If you are already driving at high hevs and then suddenly boot it it will pick up much quicker.

my Vtr used to do this on the odd occasion, turned out the TPS was buggered and wasnt telling the ecu that the throttle was wide open so fuel flow wasnt being altered to suit

It is not supose to this, and your ecu doenst learn anything, it only pick up sensor input and adjust fueling and ignition after this.
Your defently have a defective sensor or actuator...

Your going from 30mph in 3rd so its not going to pick up that quick anyway. Also the main fact that its a saxo. Its takes ages for ecu to adjust for anything so its not going to be that

Sounds about right for a vtr? Put a turbo in it or some cams or something that will cure it
