Saxo Jack
Has anyone had any problems using the standard one that comes with the car? I started the jack mine up today and the whole car moved on the jack and practically fell off.

There's a reason those things are called widow makers.
But you need to give us more info really. The type of surface (gravel, tarmac, on a hill, level etc) how you secured it.
Also you haven't mentioned axle stands. These are 100% vital when lifting a car, especially on a scissor jack. I've had cars fall on me before and I've been seconds away from loosing my life because of them. Always use axle stands and I'd invest in a decent trolley jack while you're there.

Mine works fine! I know its an obvious question, but were you on a stable surface? and using the proper jack point on the car?
Edit: ^^ Oh... awkward.

The standard jack is designed to hold the car up to change a wheel so unless you had it on an uneaven surface or the car was moving about, it should have been ok.
Get a trolley jack and some axle stands, best investment you can make

Park the car at level surface ,Put the car in gear , apply handbrake
Un-tighten wheel bolts slightly THEN lift the car on the Jack.

Don't have the handbrake on, just put a brick infront of the front tyre if your jacking the back up, having the handbrake on makes the jack tilt forwards. Just get a decent jack, there only about £25

Flat stable surface. Using the jacking point started jacking it up and just as the wheel was about to leave the ground the car tipped towards me. I only wanted to change the wheel. I need to invest in a trolly jack when get some spare cash.

best thing to do is get a trolley jack and axle stands. my car has fell off the suicide jack twice in the last few months before i even had a chance to get an axle stand under it. they way it fell the jack dented the 1/4 panel above the jacking point in

Because it seems wise to inform someone how to change a wheel without getting injured .
Regardless of post count

Well yeah but it's a bit irrelevant isn't it?
I could describe how to weld up a rear diff on an Mx5 just because it seemed wise. But it's not relevant to the thread.

ive never used the standard jack and dont even know where it is (spare wheel cage broke so i dont carry it, just a can of expanding foam). i got a trolly jack about 10 years ago for £20 or somthing. probably the best investment ive made for a car. need to replace it soon though.
