Default Reshell a VTS in to a Diesel Shell

do-able? I've seen some dirt cheap diesel Saxo's which will sort me out for a non-sunroof shell cheaper then putting on a roof skin. Work wise isn't an issue, but will the engine drop in easy enough etc?

Yup, arches will need chopping, and all the fuel lines swapping, but if you have space and time go for it, not quite the same, but the gwynnespeed saxo kitcar started off life as a diesel 106.

You'd rather by a car, change the engine and fuel lines and pump, have to remve and flush the tank, change suspension and brakes

Then change the roof skin?

ive always thought diesel saxos are quite expensive?? not noticeably cheap anyway.
you'd be far better off buying a non-sunroof petrol 1.1 or something to do it if you really wanted to but what a ball ache that would be to swap everything

vts's are far better equipped? have the vts bodykit, power steering, central locking, alarm, abs, electric windows, better seats, disc brake beam, uprated suspension and thicker torsion/arb bars, vented front brakes as opposed to solid

completely pointless idea mate, just buy a vts and put the non sunroof skin on it if you dont want a sunroof so badly.
any kind of saxo are cheap as chips these days...

It's a rally car by the way. I have a VTS atm, which has rust (don't they all!) and will need the sunroof panel plating.

If I could get a Diesel Saxo for £400, swap everything over, sell all the left overs, empty VTS shell, it would work out a damn site cheaper than a roof plate & welding.

Petrol 1.0/1.1 was the other option.

if its just a rally car, you could just rivet on a sheet of ally?

from my experience, 1.1s are cheaper than diesels and would probably be easier doing an engine conversion

New roof panel is £100 or thereabouts. Welding is free if you're doing it yourself. Takes a few hours max. Really a lot of hassle to swap the entire cars innards over for a roof. Or as posted above, just weld a plate in.

£200 from main dealers, that includes the bar that goes across and VAT

go to scrappy...find a non sunroof saxo/106 cut the whole roof off via the pillars

take it home and drill the spot welds of and remove the roof skin...then with a bond cutter..remove your windscreen and drill the spot welds off your car... and remove the skin

bond the strengthener from the non sun roof skin into place..then put the roof skin back on and bond/spot weld it onto place

then bond your screen back in
