Default Next week's MOT

So the dreaded MOT is coming up next week on my 1.1 1996 Saxo. I'm not in any way good with cars at all, the saxo is my first car that I've ever had and im learning in it at the moment.

My dad thinks the brake pads and discs will need changing and we don't have the time do them ourselves so I was wondering roughly how much that would cost to have done?

If you're struggling to work out how to get the car off the ground I'd probably just pay someone to do it

No I meant is it difficult changing the brake discs+pads? I genuinely know nothing about car maintenance so I don't mean to sound so dumb!
