Mauritius mk1 vtr and 106 gti content
currently have mk1 Mauritius blue saxo vtr which i brought cheap just to do a trackday back in october cause my then only road legal/fully working car was a 306 hdi estate which despite handling really well was too slow for me. so i brought the saxo cheap and sorted all the rust out, undersealed all the underside along with doing some mot work and trackday prep. the only upgrades are a full magnex with decat, k&n plus 206 8v inlet pipe and rallye steel's in purple for track/summer use and cyclone's in peugeot steel grey for winter use.
some pic's
how it looked when i brought it

at the trackday with my mates 02 vtr

ready for use with me brother's run around

track time
all went trouble free until it started to rain and after some huge slide's my luck ran out and i clipped a tyre bail smashed the bumper into bit's and scuffed the grill anyway 20mins work and alot of zip-ties later had it looking ok
since the last pic i've fitted a mint bumper and also so fitted me clones (haven't got any pic's yet).

also i've got a 106 gti in silver, i brought it of a friend to be a donnor the for saxo but since having a good look round it i've chosen to save it seeing as it only really needs some welding and a beam to get it back on the road.
here's some pic's excuse the crappy sticker's (already been peeled off) and mirrors
i'am going to be sorting some new damper's for it along with a beam and fitting my scorpion exhaust system cause the current system is way to loud for trackdays.
hopefully should have this on the road by the end of jan.
thanks for looking jim.

id honestly save the GTI and then sell the VTR and use the money from that to get a set of proper track wheels/tyres

Ahh, no way!! We were at the track day at oulton park too.
I have a bumper in very good condition for sale if your interested? PM me.
What needs doing to the VTR? Does the shell need much welding or sorting?

yep was a good day out, cheers for the offer of the bumper but i've already fitted a mint bumper to the vtr i just haven't got any pic's yet. the vtr shell is good now just needed some welding under the ecu, relay box, both front jacking point's and the boot floor needed tidying it's all undersealed now.

true that Mauritius mk1's are cool, got alittle update on the 106 i've changed the lockset so now one key does it all (instead of just fuel filler and ignition barrel ). i've also swapped the m3 rep's (imo they don't suit 106's) for 106 gti factory electric mirrors in cherry red (they came on a friends gti breaker that's also going supply it's beam to my 106) i've also ordered some front bilsteins to go with the eibach's i've already got for the 106. here's acouple of pic's midway through this weekends work.

and a quick pic of the vtr on clones
that's about it for now

it's been awhile so i'll give an update back in january i decided to fit new dampers, eibach's springs, new bottom arm's, new strut top mounts and trackrod end's to the saxo with the plan being to do another trackday but two days after replacing the front end me brother hit a kerb after finding some black ice and to make matters worse a bus slammed into the side of the saxo mainly doing cosmetic damage to the rear quarter panel.

also one of the bottom arm's is now slightly bent.
me being fickle i went out and purchased a ph1 306 dturbo for getting to work but after 3weeks of replacing the heater matrix, top engine mount and fixing the boost leaks it popped its headgasket .

shed like ph1 dt on the left (sold now) and my long term ph2-1 dt on the right
so i pulled the saxo back out pushed the rear quarter out by hand and gave it a clean along with fitting a raceland 4-2-1 exhaust manifold.
also brought aset of 205 1.9 speedlines fitted with federal rsr's for track use currently fitted to the 106 at the min.

pulled me zx out so i could relieve it of me orange smr's ready for the saxo once the weather get's better.

i've recently fitted a second hand sparco strut brace and a omp system
as of saturday the vtr has started leaking gearbox causing the clutch to slip and the 8v has started burning lot's of oil so i've got myself a complete 106 gti engine, box and single plug loom to replace the poorly 8v
hopefully get the j4 fitted and running this weekend so i can finish the 106 and start on me other project's.

it's been awhile, i've still got the saxo it's now running a stock j4 from a mk1 saxo vts with a single plug loom. whilst fitting the 16v i pretty much rebuilt the saxo. i've also fitted some aftermarket bit's and bob's including a solid rubber bottom engine mount, grp n linkage's, eibach rear damper's along with the omp exhaust and k&n i was running on the 8v. it's also had a another vtr beam fitted with new bearing's now lowered 40mm which has improved the handling no end.
8v out

sat engineless whilst prepping the bay, fitting fuels and swapping the rack.

the 8v's gearbox drain plug, guess that's why it was noisy

de rusted the bay and painted in thomas the tank engine blue because it was the only blue i could get at the time.

16v in

the only mishap was when she shook loose the earth behind the battery leaving me puzzled for 5 min's before realizing.

i was then offered another mauritius blue mk1 vtr but due to my now modest collection of french car's i declined, so just got some pic's of the two together

i then fitted me smr's and also got some sticker's for the crappy quarter for 50p

also fitted a early mk1 grill in red cause i can.

then the boot latch failed and i smashed the glass trying to close the boot so fitted a grey temp hatch and rebuilt the beam and lowered it.

and now the tax and test have run out i've sorned the saxo whilst sorting my latest 306 (love 306's had ten+ so far).

haven't decided what i'am doin with the saxo and 106 so both are up forsale for now.
sorry for the long post alot's been done since april
jim.

The work brought, has a different meaning to the word bought.
Other than that, cool, shame about the rear 1/4 on the VTR.
Doesnt sound like you have much luck either tbh.
