Default hd tvs good or bad ?

after deciding to spend my bday money on a hd after days of reviews and asking instore staff i settled for a toshiba 3030db 32"lcd 599in currys 550 in comet, staff told me he liked tosh and its a good make and very good quality, i have only just set it up but aint got my 1-5 channels to work or free view only the channels through my ntl(includin 1-5) and a quick go on pro evo hd set on 720resolution on xbox settings,

now i dunno if its because i aint got my channels tuned in perfectly (1-5 they r poor only though tv they r fine through ntl) or that i know i spent alot and want big results but it either doesnt seem much diff i can see on pro evo it looks sharper but i think it seemed to jump a little at points, so at the moment im not sure it is much better than my old tv if any, bar the fact the graphics are slightly improved but didnt seem as smooth running? anyone else with this issue

my old tv is a 3-5 year old 32" Sony Wega which iv been told is basically a quality tv even in comparision to new ones,

You'll find that you get some blurring when watching sports or playing fast paced games, it's a trait of LCD TVs. You might also find that standard definition TV isn't as clear as it was on your CRT TV.

Best place to go for advice is www.avforums.com. Those guys know their stuff and are alot of help.

True that^^ I have had my Panasonic 38" LCD, and films are normally very good, but fast moving sports like Football and especially Tennis this year while watching Wimbledon was a bit laggy or behind. There are pros and cons to both LCD and Plasma.

Plasma screens are still the best option IMO, mine arrives on Sunday

Only thing you've got to watch with the plasmas is screen burn, but that's not as much of a problem on the new ones.
