love the car mate, would be good to keep it a mildly tuned vtr engine with good suspension to use as a daily. Like me lol. Then have a track toy. (106 XSi for me). Id much rather my car handle well and solid than have mega bhp that i couldnt really use on the road. Keep it up mate very nice car

Cheers mate, ideally i want to get a VTS conversion, but atm insurance is an issue, so it looks like the earliest that will be happening is July when my renewal comes around. In the meantime i want to get the suspension and brakes as good as they can be, ready for when the engine goes in

Recent Updates
Not sure where i'm going with this car atm, although it is starting to be a bit of a money pit.
This is where she lives now,
Few interior changes,
Saved the best til last,
Bought the engine for £380, paid £450 to have it fitted, which included all new fluids, new clutch, new cam belt, new water pump and tensioners, oil filter and i had to get a plate welded in underneath as the jacking point was rotten. Had it for just over a month now and hardly driven it really, it is very fun to drive though i must say (even with the vtr box still on)
She was off the road all last week because 2 injectors packed up, which cost me another £250, also the gearbox is leaking oil from the driveshaft seal, but i've lost my locking wheel nut key so can't change it So for now i'm topping it up every now and again until i get this S1 box off AlexR, but don't know how long thats going to be yet!
Near Future plans,
s1 Gearbox
Cage,
4 pot brakes,
Few suspension bits like thicker rear arb, uprated bushes etc,
Another seat lol,
Possibly manifold/cams/standalone ecu, but i don't want to spend money on performance stuff untl i know where i'm going with the car .
And eventually more power (charged or N/A, haven't decided yet), but that's a long way off yet.

Manifold arrived today, decided i want to heat-wrap it before i put it on though;
One thing i'm not sure about though, the hole for the lambda sensor is just before the centre section would start, and on the alternator side.
Now my current lambda sensor is on the gearbox side, right up the top, and the wire is at full stretch, how am i going to get it to plug in much lower down?

haha couldn't resist going 16v
my dad's mate did the conversion, had to drive down to pembrokeshire in wales for it though, but i got to help out and learnt a fair bit doin it. Don't worry about the filter, it's off a rover i think, it was literally put on to get me home from wales. I bought a vts airbox off sparco tom a few weeks ago, but an't fit it yet because my vtr fan is in the way. Won one on ebay today though so should sort that out soon

Woo someone commented
Yeah it's really light lol, obviously isn't going to make a massive difference to performance but it's something i've wanted for a while.
Got the piper wrapped and on aswell, had it on for a month or so now
Also back on black vtr wheels atm, not sure what i'm going to do wheel-wise though as i want to get a big brake upgrade

4pots are a great upgrade !!!
I'm wanting a fiberglass bonnet eventually, so was just wandering whether it was a lot lighter !!
I've got a piper too so our cars are pretty similar !!

Looks nice bud what omp seat is that? can't really see it clearly in the picture, also what omp steering wheel do you have? by the way your harnesess should be crossed not straight, thats how most people do harnesses, like the fibre glass bonnet looks awesome for a MK1 saxo bud

This car doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves on this forum!!
I really like the way you do things properly and use common sense before speed!!
Not long until you get to that final stage now high comps/charged/N-A???
Decisions decisions
I know im going for an N/A screaming beast!!
Really like the bonnet in the flesh though!! Money well spent!!
