How quick is "quickish" and how much money do you have to spare.

Is it an SPI or MPI engine?
An SPI engine will take a Solex twin carb from the AX GT/205 1.4 xsi (with some work), a rejetted carb can give some impressive power gains.
An MPI can be turbocharged, Sophia_Bush on here has done one and also sells basic kits
Other than that theres not alot worth doing on a 1.1, apart from exhaust system and induction kit

But on a serious note, search on here and on ebay. Imo, not worth doing an awful lot to 1.1. Just the small mods like induction kit and exhaust for noise.

Just looked at your progress thread mate, yours is a single point injection (SPI). I know the MPI engine can be turbo'd but im not too sure about the SPI.

If you want genuine performance then you've got a long way to go...
Currently I'm in the process of upgrading everything that will actually make a difference, the cam on the 1.1 has a lot to give!
Also consider updating the inlet manifold & throttle body as they're quite restrictive on the 1.1.

Never going to be a quick car really but completely strip it and sort breathing mods like above then maybe turbo and go a bit mental

Don't bother with just the throttle body- go the whole hog and get the inlet manifold too.
Back seats won't weigh that much... in my car (206) they were around 20kg-ish.
I'm actually having bespoke cams made for me, but if they work out well then there will be plenty available for the TU1 1.1 PSA engine (which is what you have). The cam basically helps out with top-end and mid-range power, which is crucial to the 8v TU engine as it runs out of puff quite easily.
Will keep you posted, just need a basic 1.1 cam to send away to the tuning company and I will get the reprofiled one in around a week or so.

unless you got 1.5k spare and can do most of the work yourself don't turbo even a basic setup all done will cost that much and again thats if you do the work yourself.
Basic mods since yours is a spi manifold exhaust and diy induction nothing else. MPi are defo more responsive going by what my new one is like

I really can't see the point in throwing money at a 1.1 Saxo engine.
Surely a "tuned" and turbo'd 1.1 Saxo will cost more to insure than a VTS?

Engine was delivered today... cam's being reprofiled this week. Don't know how much they'd be retail as my car is the development car for all head and cam work, but it wouldn't be thousands...
Also, consider an induction kit from this company that I'm getting my work done by... 7bhp increase as proven on a rolling road.
