Default Parts you need to turbo your saxo and basic costs involved

Right along with the turbo guide I did a while back alot of people ask for a parts list and pirce break down of whats the min required to run a turbo safely. So lets do a break down of a fully proper working turbo setup:

Adapter for oe manifold and downpipe £175
T25 turbo or a GT15 £50 - £100
boost pipes £80 (new with hoses)
intercooler £100
repair headgasket set inc bolts £100 (1 single thicker hg being a repair one, should lower compression enough to run low boost)
Dump valve, boost gauge and dump valve t-piece £60 - 80
4 bigger injectors £30 (max)
dastek unichip inc boost map sensor controller (£100 off ebay)
2bar map sensor £30
remap on the dastek £250 (at aldon automotive)
oil feed and return £20
sump return £10

so thats the basics all had for less than £1100 at todays prices all mapped and ready to go low boost.

Running a turbo is requires no less maintanence than a highly strung n.a motor, regular oil changes and not hammering the shite out of it and it will be reliable.

Just don't expect it to be if you drive like an utter cock all over the place. Power 1.1 mpi anywere from 90bhp - 140bhp depending on boost run and how good the mapping is. Furio / Westcoast from 90bhp - 180bhp, VTR from 130bhp - 200bhp+ and VTS from 180bhp+ BUT this is all subjective as with all setups it boils down to how good said setup is and how good the mapping is aswell

ALL figures are a guide you wont get that much unless the whole setup has been done right and the mapping is spot on, depends how much boost you run aswell. I ran just under 15psi in my old 1.1 and that doubled its power + a little more.

Compression well since this is a basic guide for low boost 1 single repair HG will do for 8psi. If you are going for big power then consider forged pistons, proper standalone and a betetr box with a quaife.

This is the basics IF you do most of the work yourself! I am sure people like martin with his ax vtr turbo and others will add to this if I have missed anything in this basic cost break down. Do not take this as gospel as you will need to hunt around for bargains and do the leg work. The prices i have listed are from my own experience.

But is very rewarding once done

EDIT - Also please read the following thread after you have finished here very sound advice and nice price guide for a medium spec build
