It is yes, any mapping company will be able to do it..

Why does he want it done anyway? Unless its cammed with and aftermarket cam there is no need as the standard cam drops off power before the std limiter kicks in anyway..

no it wont.

The engines are built to take alot more stress than that, they just set the rev limit low for long term wear and the fact the cam runs out of power early so no point revving when the power is not there

i really cant understand why you would want to take it off on a stock car without being branded a chav for all noise and no power

Sorry to bring up an old thread but better than a new one
Basically looking at getting a Newman PH3 cam and on Kams website it says power increase between 3-7K. Would it be ok to get a limiter raised to 7k on a standard internal silvertop VTR??? Thanks

You'd need uprated valve springs - £60 from Piper.

I had a similar profile cam fitted to my VTR and I didn't think there was any need to raise the rev limiter - made peak power well before the std limiter. I wouldn't even get it mapped, doesn't need it imo. Have the timing adjusted on the rollers and save for a closer ratio gearbox: VTS, S2 Rallye, 1.4 XSI etc.

Ok, but think I'll still go for a map to get the best out of it, and all other mods mapped aswel then. And currently running a 1.1 box ATM. But when that go's will be going vts
