Cool Another police/crackdown rant.

Okay.. I'm sure this has been covered plenty of times but why is it that the police (From what I know of our local force) are cracking down harder on young car enthusiasts than potentially dangerous criminals?

I mean.. I can understand if people are sitting in a Focus car park shredding tyres and screeching off into the sunset, but, why do the police constantly hastle and "move on" innocent enthusiasts.

How many people here have been stopped and had their car searched by officers when they've done nothing wrong.
It's this stereotype that every enthusiast or ''youth'' is a potentially lethal boy racer.
The difference between enthusiast and thug needs to be made totally clear.

A spoiler, a bumper, a new set of rims. None of the following should suddenly drop you into the same class as these "write-off merchants".

There must be something that the "modding" community can do to prove to these narrow-minded enforcers that we're not all out to bald the tyres on every corner.

Anyone else agree?

Lol. And exactly Maxamus.
Why can't they give us a designated area to "get the turbo oot"? Haha.
Nah but seriously... A place that we can all sit and have a good bit o' banter.
No.. Instead.. They'll just keep moving us on so we've got to constantly jump from car-park to car-park.

At Wyvern in Derby there seems to be quite a lot of people, both enthusiasts and chavvy dicks. People drifting, playing music etc.. not much police action.

Moddings a hobby for some peeps but not everyone can or wants to take there car to a big show a few times a year. I dont see a problem if everyones behaving. plus if the car doesnt have a "No Loitering" sign then the law is on your side

Yeah... So instead of coming down on us.. How about dealin' with the paedophiles/murderers/rapist etc etc..?

You're right.. Some burnt car park tarmac is so much more important than your child's safety. Daftys like.

Never been pulled over in 18 months of driving and it's not like my car doesn't stand out. It's down to the driver and the car imo, if police see a dirty modded car they are going to pull it.. if they see a clean and looked after car they wont bother as they can expect that everything is in order

tbh few people i knew were having this problem. about 20 of them loved to just meet up and chat. same police officer told them to move along everytime they found somewhere to park and chat, like he was following them. police need to know that eventually people will have had enough of it and take into their own hands.

on about the 9th time this same officer pulled on to the car park they were on they all got out the car when he got out his, walked over (20 big chaps lol) and tipped his car on its side not good

EDIT:

Also speaking to an ex-police officer this morning who deals with our IT. Sound bloke, told him ive had a few problems with police because i drive a saxo. He told me when he used to be on duty with his fellow officers they would play snooker if they were bored. they would pull a car over (usually for no reason) and jot down the colour of the car they pulled. when they got back to the station each patrol car would tally the points and see who won...no bullshit
