i would put it on the lowest ISO, it reduces noise and will give you a slower shutter speed, so longer time to work with. Also use a tripod.
Nice pics ^ ^
here are some of mine

I dont know why but this has never interested me in the slightest.
It might be because its to do with tripod work

I like the motorway at night style ones myself.. generally the light dragging ones. Best way is a tri pod and some sort of long time exposure setting on your camera.. you will find it only works at night because it tries to draw in so much light it will just be white in the day.. here are a few of mine and i just use a bog standard Kodak Easyshare M753 but want a D-SLR

I've never looked into video, but im guessing very bluntly here that there must be some sort of exposure setting and set above the motorway etc but and left to film for a few minutes then possibly speeded up to a higher speed

Liam- o see this video here for example look at 30 - 32 seconds look at much difference the colour of the sky is in the end just over the 2 seconds so must have took hours to film it.

ah, looking at it there, it looks like a very long clip sped up, so with high traffic going fast it makes the same sort of effect?

you can use any old camera, you just need a real slow shutter speed to draw. its easiest to use a mag light and take the end off so you have like a candle. then you just draw
