I'd say the engine was standard and just in better condition/you're a better driver hence being able to keep up. A 4-2-1 manifold isnt going to make one car quicker than the other tbh, especially on a standard engine.
Stadard yours is 98, and his is now 107 - not a massive difference tbh especially if his engine needs a service etc.

aaaaa ok then this makes a bit of sense lol ill pop 1 up tomorrow as i use my phone for the pics n it has no flash

Mate its all down to traction and how quick you can get the power down, milage on the engine, whether it needs servicing etc.
Its the bungee cord thats givin you the extra power
Mine feels a lot quicker since puttin the buckets in and sorting out my idle control valve

do it urself mate i did its a piece of piss . changed my rocker cover as well so the engine will stop leaking oil. The dickhead previous owner reckoned he changed the oil. He did that all right but it was also over double the proper ammount in. i thought he knew about cars

init. problem is tho after i strapped on the radiator i filled it up to "max" with coolant then ran the engine. Had a bit of white smoke out the back (condesstation?) i assumed as it hasnt been started in over a week. Then looked back in coolant bottle to find it half empty! could it have just put more coolant into the block or you reckon all that oil has blown the head?

That doesn't sound good mate
Could be an airlock - have you bled the coolent system properly - otherwise you may cause an HGF!

sounds like an airlock, keep topping it up until it goes down no more, open the bleed valves to get all the air out !

yh just headlamps and bonnet needed now opted for a fibreglass 1 to save weight. also looks good and was cheaper then the standard bonnets. for air ive popped some 15mm bonnet raisers on already with a cold air feed induction sucking just where the gap will sit . For added secruity also purchased some bonnet pins although i dont have a clue how to fit these
