them evos are pure porn. you don't have to run a massive rad though do you ross?

surely a lesser size rad with a decent fan setup would be suffice?

look at the civic ek9's they run diddy rads man

Yeh that's what I'm thinking - some of those Evo's look to be running oem radiators with huge stonking turbo's mm's away from the radiator so my setup should be nothing tbh !!!

I think it would be tbh, just an oem diesel radiator with a pair of fans on it - should be more than enough!! Not like the UK is a hot climate

I'm sure once I get going with the welder, a few mounts will be easy to sort out!!

yea it should be ok.A descent sized oil cooler will look after it aswell. if you see a gmc rad pop up though grap it. Got one for £80 and it did seem brilliant.

lol I'll do my best with them!! I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised with them, fingers crossed

I'm not going to attempt welding alloy !! I plan on seem welding up the engine bay, strut tops, then welding some seat mounts in and welding a cage in eventually. I'll hopefully buy a mig welder to do that work.

I want to get some boost pipes made up and welded so will go alloy for them and get a local firm down south to do them - and maybe weld a couple of brackets on the intercooler - will see what space I've got to play with nearer the end of the year!

Diesel radiator ftw !

Thanks mate !! At minimum it'll be build by the end of this year - cannot wait tbh. !! The biggest hurdle really is going to be doing the Be4r conversion without spending a lot of ££££ when it isn't needed - will cross that bridge when I get to it !!

I'll have to keep my welds hidden or else you guys will be on them like hawks

Yeh mental spendage, but could have been a lot worse if I'd bought a lot of the inlet and s/c bits brand new!! Easily saved myself 50% on them.

Like this intercooler and diesel radiator setup should cost me around £150-£200 compared to £1k for the GMC setup, hopefully mine will be just as good.

Yeh, wouldn't be too hard to knock up a bit of ducting out of alloy to help direct things - going to need a bit of fabrication skills and common sense when I get to that stage !!

I'll be going for an oem diesel radiator, £185 from Citroen but I'll get one from ebay if nissens do one or something along those lines. A nice remote header tank and will get some hoses from a saxo diesel in a scrappy and job done !

that's sound mate . any help I can offer is not a problem mate.

lols at the bird shit weld. if your gunna practice welding buy a sheet of steel and just practice on the distance away from the "job" and speed and gas flow are key mate plus a very steady hand

I'll buy a couple of sheets to practice on, better to be safe than sorry! - done some welding before on steel tubing and the welds come out okay (a couple of dodgy ones though )

*Note to self - no welding on the morning after a heavy night out* (hand would be all over the place !)

that's a good plan mate. tube is harder than doing seem welds or stitch welds so you'll be fine I reckon mate.

aha that's a good note to self

nice radiator mate should look evil
if you cut the plastic trim of the front bumper off (the bit that bolts onto the x member) and then mount the interooler as far forward and as low down as possible (without it scraping the tarmac and then cut a bit of the slam pannel off and mount the radiator highder up you might achive around 3/4 of the radiator showing? spose you could then always use cold air feeds from the fog lights to cool the radiator behind??

and this may sound stupid to some people but i thought it was a ok idea. if you made brackets couldnt you mount your cooler/s under the car if theyre wasnt enough room?

best of luck mate this build will look amazing when its finshed any idea wehat bhp you'll be running at??
OR you could multi layer your head

i dont think it will matter tho to much m8, enough air should get through the gaps in the intercooler, in all fairness look at the gmc set up not much getting past the i/c

Yeh I'm going to need to think something up to make sure the radiator is okay and the car can sit in traffic fine without any worries.

I'll play about with it whilst the front end if off the car.

Toy'd about with the idea of having the radiator where the spare wheel would go, but the front of the car isn't that cramped enough to warrant doing it really. I might end up with the radiator or intercooler at an angle facing the ground and then some sort of duct - no rush yet to decide, just got to do a bit of research and see what I can do !!

I won't be needing to multi layer the head, it'll have low compression pistons and I'll fit a repair j4 headgasket so will be more than enough!!

Power is a hard one tbh - I think deep down I'd lover 300atw, but realistically anything over 250 would be awesome !!!

yeh it is bloody close, a couple of books I've been reading have said about the lack or airflow behind the intercooler and it being hot air etc. which seems right to me hence wanting to try and keep the radiator relatively efficient !!!

I think i've been convinced me to got a stretch bolt guage and do the rod bolts that way as opposed to torquing them up - more ££ to add to the list !!
