culd u not hire one from somewhere or borrow one from a garage, as it not being needed that often £100 would seem money not well spent, i might have a sollution if i get one??

Yeh I'm not sure about it - I might just bite the bullet and get one from the US which is a bit cheaper or find a local engine place and see if I can 'rent' it from them.
Will see I think

If you get one then I'd definitely give you some cash to rent it for a week ! That'd be awesome if you could - would owe you one !! I'll hold off sorting one out/buying one until summer.
I won't need it until after FCS, then it'll be go go go to get the engine stripped, machined and build back up !

Lol I can't afford that procomp bonnet!!! If I could I would!!
Got to save for the baffled sump and the big Citroen order for engine parts and machining after FCS!!
Can't wait to build up the engine!! Will have to enjoy this na engine before it's pulled apart and parts sold!

Little Update (Apologies, the pics were taken on iPhone)
S8TTG put my track tyres on my old alloys so have put them on the front of the car to have a try out - they are 195/55/15 and seem to not rub at all and feel great on the road - obviously can't push them hard though.
Fitted new injectors seals and filter buckets to the 16v injectors - one of the seals had pinched in the past, only recently noticed it so replaced all of them:
Old (put them back in the packet the new ones came in)

(Can see the one that had got pinched, didn't leak but with Tb's I didn't want to risk it at all)
Old vs. new filter buckets
Have been reading up about headwork and reading various bits online so thought about having a go myself trying to get a nice diameter port/shape - not gone too mental with the die-grinder, around 14hours later I have a nicely ported JP4 head, still undecided about the wall finish inlet side, left it slightly rough but I somehow feel it should be rougher like the oem casting, exhaust side is smooth.
I've left the actual inlet and exhaust faces oem so I can match them ot inlet and exhaust manifolds at a later date.
The picture is pretty bad tbh (bloody iPhone) but gives you the idea:
Oem vs Finished (may need to play with the inlet wall finish)

time for a beer
Other than that not been upto much tbh, the cars booked in on an rr day next weekend, and I have an S1 box to fit to it to make sure the box is all good (re-cased into a Westcoast case due to S1 casing cracking) - so that'll be going on this weekend, fingers crossed it goes all okay.
Car's running very well, I'm looking forward to finishing exams, have penciled in the day after FCS to pull the engine out and get underway with the Boost conversion!

Nice to see a little progress bud.
I'd be real careful with the porting. From what I know, and it's very little, you can easily do more harm than good.

Cars taking a back seat over the next couple of months with uni finals so progress will be minor.
Yeh I wasn't sure about porting it, but from looking at the oem inlet and exhaust shapes you can immediately see where improvements can be made, especially in the valve throat inlet side
Books give rough port sizes based on valve size so what I've done won't be anything radical, I havnt removed a lot or veered away from the oem shape a huge amount, should be good with boost
It only cost me time so any improvement when boosted will be good - I just need to find out about how best to finish the inlet side surface to help air/fuel mix, especially with around 630cc injectors
There is method to my madness, I'm no Stevie Wonder with a due grinder
