Exclamation Help needed!! Carnt figure this one out ?

Rite im coming to the end of my 16v conversion from a mrk2 vtr ! so i bought a new 16v manifold from here ---
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...T#ht_995wt_913

ive put it on and the last thing to do was to put the center section in but the gear selector is in the way and ive been scratching my head to why?? heres a picture--

16 v manifold Manufacturing fault ?? not likely !!
Fitted wrong ?? checked and double checked 10 times !!

so im thinking do i need a different bottom gear box mount arm as whats in the pik above! i have the vtr on at the mo. and ive got it into my head that its too short and pulling the engine in to much and needs to be a longer one to push the engine out abit and lovering where the bottom of the manifold is giving more room ??i dont know but any help would be apreciated !

My mate had this problem on his 106 GTi, just budged it aside, use to hear the knocking when changing gear.
