Default Crazy insurance for a Vtr

Ok so I'm 17 and was looking to change my 1.25 fiesta to a VTR so rang up admiral to see how much it was going To hurt.

I tried 3 different ways all with Admiral, firstly completely on my own for a Vtr was £3027, then I rang them up and asked how much it would be to change my Fiesta policy to the Vtr and they wanted an extra £70 on top of the £497 I've already paid which would run out in April, which I thought was great, then I asked how much it would be to renew in April and as a named driver they wanted £5300 how the fuck does any of that add up, it's cheaper to be completely alone, then somehow £567 shoots to £5300 lol

Looks like I will be driving a furio instead lol
A Vtr would be fun but at that price it's just not worth having a mediocre car at the age of 17 while I'm not a particularly fast driver, so I'll live with a smaller engine wi decent handling until I can afford the EK9 or EP3.

So now just looking how i can improve a furio lol

you got a long way to go before you get ensured on EK9
my insurance on vtr at 19 was £600
at 20 it went up to £1200

best of getting a insurance group 1 car

Its not so much the Group of the car, you will get ripped off because of your age.

If insurance companies discriminated against your ethnicity like they do young drivers (presuming you are a shit driver and therefore highly likely to claim)... ooohhhh how things would be different!

17, group 7 car, next to zero driving experience
Massive risk to any insurance company
To be honest, I wouldnt bother, I know its tempting to get a VTR at 17 but 5k is rediculous, they are quoting that because they dont really want to insure you anyway
Stick with your current car, build up no claims and it will drop soon

You are probably bored with your 1.25 but a VTR is only 98bhp and you will bored with that after a while.

Arnt the 1.25's 75bhp anyway?

Speed wise, you will probably get in a VTR and think 'wow yeah this is faster than my fiesta' for about 5 minutes, then you will realise that its not much faster, personally I would wait till you have no claims and get a VTS or a better car altogether...i.e not a saxo lol
