Need some advice on a difficlut situation....
So I was coming out of a side road to a main road, i stopped, there was a vehicle blocking my view to what was coming, so i moved off slowly and a 7 seater taxi came out of no were and a pressed the brake but due to the ice car skidded and the taxi hit me.
Now, exchanged details etc etc and was on my way home to get the car off the road, as i got onto my road some copper stoped me and said my cars dangerous to drive, i explained what happened and he said dosn't matter and hhis calling a vehicle examiner.
He also called my insurance to check my modifications, I didn't declare my mods because with Endsleigh i hear they allow you to have upto 3 mods etc so as the copper was on the phone to them they terminated my policy so cud not drive the car.
Vehicle examiner was sound and said get some one to drive the car back home with insurance.
So my situation now is, the fault of the accident is mainly mine but now i have no insurance?
So he has nothing to claim from
Any help on this? Much appreciiated for any advice!

Sounds like a knob of a copper.
Your insurance company will pay out to the 3rd party(taxi driver) but be warned they may try and hit you with the bill once its all sorted.Or they may not.

The taxi driver said if you want to go private then give him £450, but thing is corner of my front bumper hit his back wheel, all he got was punctured tyre looking at it then.
Im mechanic myself and looked when he took the wheel of there was no damage there, he said his doors knackered and rear panels?
The mods I have are air filter and powerflow exhaust. I admit im stupid enough not to tell the insurance in the 1st place

Obviously your insurer (Endsleigh) would try avoid their legal obligation to accept the claim
Unfortunately, your occupation rules out the chance of saying how was I to know that it had an air filter and different exhaust to the 'manufacturers standard specification'.
Its a difficult one, you could go down the lines of ignorance or maybe cash in hand to the 3rd party - although thats risky because he could claim aswell as take the money.
Insurance will be harder to get + more expensive for a while to come

Thanks for the advice mate.
I rang up the guy who hit me and told him im currently not insured at the moment so that's got him pissed.
Endsleigh are in the process now deciding wether i can continue with my policy or not. Have to send them a letter with mods on the car and proof of a garage fitting, I installed them myself tho? so not sure about that. Will have to wait and see how it goes over the next few days.

What did the toss pot on the phone say?
Endsleigh will ask for it in writing off you to make the voiding process easier for them.
Be very careful. If it was me, id write a letter an say "as far as I am aware, the car is to the 'manufactures standard specification', I haven't changed anything on it and as such, this is as I insured it. Any changes must have been done by a previous owner." -
Like I say, the main issue with that is you have declared your occupation as a mechanic - so they might decide to take it further and ask you "surely due to your occupation you would notice the difference in after market parts." To which I guess you say No and hope for the best? All this is time and hassle for them though, and depending on the cost of the claim (I assume you are not fixing yours through Endsleigh on fully comp?) they might not pursue it.
However they sound on the phone, always think about it. There aim is to claim everything off you. Good luck buddy, keep us up to date, hope it works out for ya.

So do I mate, thats why I always pay them as less as I possibly can.
Well thats a good thing if you were a student. Get the standard air box on, and the exhaust is just an exhaust, could have been an original .
Just remember to declare things you cant easily put back to standard in the event of a bump next time

ask the taxi driver to put it into writing the time of the crash and maybe try locate a film/cctv somewhere of it happening?
surely if you can prove it happened BEFORE they terminated your insurance they would have to pay?
or as outrage said perhaps they wont have to?
fuck i hate insurance, pathetic scam on humanity.

Its their legal duty to pay the 3rd party. Whether they cancel your policy and try reclaim all the costs from you is unfortunately up to them, but they need a good reason and proper evidence (Mods are 99.9999% easier to prove that you've knowing bullshitted when taking out your policy than 'fronting' for obvious reasons).
Like arr kid said above, see if there is any CCTV anywhere, it sounds like you have already admitted liability ( ) but speed and manner of driving could go in your favour.
If you do any dodgy deals with the taxi man then make sure you get it all written down with his name and address on and signed so you don't get any come backs.

They will pay out to the third party but will try and re-coup their losses from you.
