Awesome car.
Best of both worlds, look amazing with a ride and handling to match but returns good mpg.
Some will advise you get a facelift I like both personally.

Yea i think they look great, 190 brake standard and who knows after a remap. But all less than 5k are very high milers.

Test drove one. Very good cars. Good handling. Quick enough and cruise very nicely. I decided to go with an octavia vrs though.

A word of caution be careful of the spec/mileage of these, as although they might be cheaper second hand they still cost a lot when needing maintained i.e. new turbo etc.
That said BMW's are generally bullet proof.
My friend has a 2007 530D M-sport and the engine pulls and pulls!

I have Nokian wr g2 tyres fitted to my 330d and can honestly say I've never been stuck in the snow and we've had plenty of it up here. Even towing my saxo home on a trailer I didn't get stuck even though it seemed everyother car/bus/truck on the road did.
If your feeling flush I'd suggest a 335d, 286bhp from the factory.
If you want eco go for a 318d.

They are twin turboed too.
I've always thought 330D chew through Turbo's
Quick cars tbh more of a performance car than an economical diesel. My manager at work drove a E46 320D and even that didn't manage much more than 40mpg.
I'd go VW or Audi for more economy. It's the rear wheel drive that kills them.

320d's suffer with the swirl flaps but its an easy fix to do if theyve not been sucked into the turbo already

Awesome awesome cars.
Mate had an E46 330d Msport on a 51plate in Topaz Blue. Was a great all round car looks and driveability wise. For a 3.0 Turbo, they are shit hot on the fuel too even when giving it some welly. He used to drive his hard all the time and the fuel gauge never moved and the car never let him down.
He sold it with 93k on the clock for about 4k.
The early 1s up to 2002(iirc) had 183bhp and the later had 201bhp.Can imagine with a remap they would be pretty rapid.

i work with these cars all day long and the only real problem is the diesel particulate filter on the newer 06 onwards D's they have basically a soot filter to the car looks more like a petrol and doesn't need a downward facing exhaust and it reduces emissions, aside from that they are pretty much amazing cars, no major faults just regular servicing and make sure its got good service history.

Is that all the old one's are? 190bhp? Thats shit...
The new 320d has nearly that power.
I'd look at the 170bhp A4, can reach nearly 10mpg more.
