Xbox Live Autorenew
Basically, my year subscriptions up and I don't know the password for my Hotmail account to turn off Autorenew.
It's still got my old card details in from last year, since I've had a new card since then.
Just wanted to check if it'll just complain about my card and return my account to a Silver one, or through some miracle it will still Autorenew?

You can't turn off autorenew online, you need to phone up.
I would say that if your old card is listed you wont get charged, but no idea what the T&C's are with having an expired card setup for auto renewal.
I'd just call microsoft and sort it out, it's a free phone number.

Rang them up, removed my card and reverted my account back to a free one, just read some horror stories of peoples account that renewed, no idea how when the card doesn't exist any more.
And I found an 020 number to call, since you get charged on a mobile for 0800 numbers.

Microsoft are such cunts about removing your card not letting you do it online. They used to make it so difficult (and by the sounds of it it still isn't straightforward) to remove your card.

What I didn't get was, it asked me on the Xbox if I wanted to turn Autorenew off, I said yes and it still did nothing! Obviously the most pointless option on the Xbox. Apparently its easy to do on the Website, but I was waiting for someone to email me back from MS with regards to resetting my password for the Windows Live account I use with it, cause it wouldn't let me login or reset the password haha!

It isn't easy on the website (according to my brother).
It's meant to be, it says you are allowed to do it, but then gives you errors and failures.
I've never added my card simply because the difficultly in removing it so they are losing custom through these tactics (i've been tempted when live is discounted immensley). Although they probably gain from this renewing shit as well. But I never bothered after the first month because of this.
This isn't the first time it's happened either, my brother went over drawn just before his dads birthday and couldn't use his card for the same reason. Utter bullshit, fuck of microsoft. Glad I pirate your shit.

LOL. What the fuck are you on.
It's not Microsoft's fault someone cannot manage their money.
If you buy your subscription with your card and want to turn auto renewal off, simply call the support number and remove the card from the account. Takes 5 minutes to do, there's no hassle what so ever.

Uhm no, they are very happy to add your card into the system in the dashboard, yet not let you remove it?
That's fucking unacceptable. Also wtf are YOU on, it IS microsoft's fault, what the fuck has this go to do with managing money? He turned auto renew of and tried repeatedly to remove the card online and it kept failing (he is only 15, so doesn't have much in his account) and they still took payment! Which fucked him over. Why should you have to call them to remove the card, you didn't have to call them to add it.
I do not understand how this is not clear.
