JESUS christ, your headlights are in good condition. Mine is 6 months older and are in dieing need of some wet sanding. Saying that, it's got another 50k under its belt.

Bonjour!

Well its been quite some time since i updated this thread but i thought i would say whats been happening with it anyways, as I still enjoy a spot of saxp from time to time.

So the clio...well as i said i wanted to keep it in great condition and make it sort of OEM+. Theres a big lack of mint OEM cups knocking around now imo so i think i caring for it and improving subtle things here and there it will make it stand out for what it is if you catch my drift.

Anyhow i had the belts, and pulleys changed over last year shortly after purchasing it.

Over the last year came the following:

Some brand new conti contact sport tyres (the original tyre for the cup from renault)

A CS membership, old tax disk holder out...and new one in:

A clean 3/4 front plate and a new clean back one:

Then a good service including the following:

Missing from the pic was also a new oil filter, new battery and new coolant for a full change

I also took the throttle body off and clean that :

My gear gaiter was passed its best and a clip had snapped making it come loose so i ordered a new one:

After this i then purchased these :

This is my 4th set of Eibach springs that ive had on my cars and they have are perfect for what i want. The steering and turn in seems to have been sharpened up while the car is slightly lower all round...perfect for the OEM look that i am trying to achieve.

ohh hiaa. fitted:

Lastly ive just purchased a BTB stealth system off chris, a user on here & CS. These are one of if not the best exhaust for a 172 and retail for £500 new.

I degreased it, washed it and polished the middle box and back box up ready for fitting in the next few day :

After buying the BTB, MOT'ing, Putting rear disks and pads on and paying my insurance for the year in the last few weeks im officially a broken man

Thanks for looking guys

Best springs to fit a clio if you ask me! I've got a set on mine and the drop is perfect as well as being a lot more settled in the bends I find. Going to run some trophy rear dampers on the back when they arrive, see how they benefit the car.

Yes mate they are the only springs i would fit to one tbh, top quality engineering as you would expect from a manufacturer such as eibach

He's sold the trophy and now has an 08 red mk5 Golf GTI...lovely motor i have to say.

What you planning on getting when the trophy goes??

Cheers dude! Yes mate, the springs have lowered it 15-20mm i reckon. They made the turn in alot sharper and stiffened it up nicely.

I fitted the BTB today!!

Such a great fit and the quality is second to none! Sounds lovely and the car now pulls alot stronger than it did before, especially top end of the rev range. A must 'purchase' product for all 172 owners imo. All in all im well happy with the car at the moment

Pics to follow, thanks.

Update!

The postman was good to me today :

Can ya guess what it is yet lol

Now over the last month or so ive noticed that my brakes have been feeling a tad 'wooden' and generally crap, and seen as though i havnt looked at this area since owning the car i thought i had better turn my attention to it and sort it out asap.

As you may have read i am going for and OEM+ theme with my cup so i didnt want to take the plunge with 4 pot's etc as; 1. i didnt think what i use the car for warrent's 4 pots, 2. i was advised that in putting 4 pots on a 1*2 can un balance the car under braking, and 3. i didnt really want to spend £600-800 on 'bling' calipers which i wouldnt get the best out of so i went for the following upgrades:

1. Brembo Hi Carbon Disks
2. Ferodo DS2500 pads
3. Goodridge Braided Lines
4. Motul RBF 660 fluid.

This should be ideal for fast road use and even some moderate track action and once the calipers are cleaned and painted will look and feel like it came out of the factory like that

Pics of the stuff unwrapped:

If all goes well this little lot should be fitted on friday

Thanks for looking guys, comments welcome!

Bar needing a rear beam overhaul, she's plodding along quite nicely haha. Give me a nudge if you fancy some track time next year.

Update:

Ok so Santa was good to me and the clio this christmas

One thing that annoyed the f*ck out of me everytime i got in the cup was the state of the steering wheel so i decided to finally do something about it. I did toy with the idea of having the standard item trimmed again but i cant really be without a steering wheel for a week or whatever and having seen the Sabelt Cup Racer wheels i knew i had to have one...

I wanted this wheel as it fits in with my OEM+ theme seen as though it is a renault part (well sort of lol) and it looks great in a mondial blue cup with the blue dash inserts matching the blue top part of the wheel...it kinda looks like its ment to be there from the factory! Which is what its all about for me.

Any how i got it fitted yesterday (by Chris205 off here, big thanks pal ) and went out to give the interior a quick once over then get some snaps of it:

As well as looking the part, I had no idea how much it would transform the feel of the car! It really makes it feel alot more connected and raw, its awesome! Cant reccommend one enough tbh.

Finally my rear exhaust mount is sh*gged so i got my self one of those too...OE ofcourse

Comments welcome as always, thanks for looking!
