Default Very Odd Noise

Hi Folks

Here's a really odd one for you. My 2001 VTR has a horrible screech "think dry electric motor" and it's quite specific.

The noise comes on most reliably just at the point you are just lifting off the power.

It will also make the noise freewheeling with the engine off and out of gear, so definitely wheel/diff speed.

You can actually balance the noise on and off with light throttle application, and if it can just about be felt as a vibration though the floor.

Turning or braking seems to make no difference. I think it sounds external, but my dark side says gearbox/diff?

Sounds like drivers side, could it be a dry driveshaft extension bearing thingy?

First time it did this, I thought Oh fcuk time for recovery, but I have now decided it's not quite so serious and become used to it. I have now done another 100+ miles, and It seems to be getting a little worse but not hideous.

Keep going till it breaks enough to find what's broke?

Cheers

Hiya

I popped another half litre in the box just to be sure, but that made no difference.

And Err it ain't the aux belt as the noise is still there freewheeling with the engine off!!

It's getting a little worse not so I'll pop it up on stands later and whirl the wheels round a bit.
