VTR gearbox problem ?
hi everyone, newbie here only picked up my VTR up 3 days ago, problems already lol everytime i find my bite and pull away i get a violent shudder from the gearbox? the engine is silky smooth no problems there, it only happens at a stop, pull away shudders violently? im not sure when the clutch was changed but im thinking this could be my problem?
if anybody can give me any advice on this would be great.

It could be a number of things and without seeing or driving the car it's difficult to put the finger on the problem 1st thing iwould check is engine mounts paying close attention to the lower mounting under the car.

When you say the above, do you mean it shudders as it stops or when you try to pull away from standstill?

i no that the right hand wheel bearing has gone because its grumbling at speed, and this problem has only started since then? could a wheel bearing cause this shudder on pull away ?

For a bearing to cause a shudder it would have to be well fkd jack the car up and check the wheel for play.

thats what i thought ? but when i bought the car 3 weeks ago it did not shudder at all on pull way? since the bearing went it has been really bad, i do not no when the clutch was last done as there is no receipt for it or on the service logs, i have been reading about warped clutches and they have the exact symptoms my car is doing, shuddering and jerking when finding my bite and puling away, im thinking of just changing it soon anyway with the bearing for peace of mind, how much do clutches for these cars normally cost? i have a friend who is a mechanic who does all my work for me. cheers

Clutches start from £40 up the original clutch is a valeo you can get these for £75 if shop around avoid the cheap cluches. Valeo and Luk clutches are good.
