That exactly - it won't fall off as it's not even latched to the door, it's just loose right now and sometimes gets in the way so catches the door when I try to open it (amount of times I've walked into it as getting into the car -.-)

Definitely not just a degreasing issue, but thanks

The check strap bar is just loose as whatever bracket they slot into isn't there, and the surrounds of the door where said bracket would sit is entirely mangled. Ultimately I know I need a new door, but for my MOT I was just wondering if it's a fail if there's no check strap there to hold the door open.
