Usually it's in fact very simple. replace the inner o-ring, apply some silicone lubrication and put it back.
If not physically broken that's the usual culprit.

Special note: For piece of mind get "fuel" grade O-rings not the "plumbers" version.
Use a pick to extract the old one and a lot of patience to set the new one in place.
