Yet another crap update:

This week I've had a new rear caliper (bleed nipple had snapped in the old one) gave the car a full fluid flush and gave the front brakes a service (strip down clean, new seals and rebuild). I have also painted the bumpstrip on the front bumper as it had been painted in the passed and had chipped.

Unfortunately no pictures of anything I've done apart from a thougher clean inside and out of my silver wheels (plus a new tyre) and there finally back on! I really don't like the black wheels it looks much better and cleaner on the silver.

Excuse the crap iPhone pics.

Crap update? Some good work here, looks like you are taking good care of it. Much better than I've cleaned my car updates!

Really like this. I think if the upper rear lights were smoked and it was debadged it would really set it off, but that's me. Nice car though either way!

A weird electrical problem that's all sorted now so update:
I noticed I've got a headlight bulb out, so I go to change it only to find its not the bulb. The plug has melted on one connector and it looks like there's been a short, so I cut the wire back till it was good again and did a temp repair till today.

Tonite:
I popped down to a pug/Citroen breakers down the road and got a new loom.

I then stripped it down to what I needed.

Got the tools out - soldering iron, solder, flux and heat shrink - cleaned the wires up soldered and wrapped.

Put it all back in the casing and connector block.

All done, sorted!

Not much has happened really keep thinking about selling her but then just cant let go as i know ill miss her.

I stripped both headlights down and cleaned them inside and out, the light output is much improved so im glad i did it (no pics)

Last sunday my diff gave up and this happened

So of course ive been driving it since lol but i still had my old box sitting there (totalled bearings and crunchy 3rd) so i made a decision to get it rebuilt as this good second hand box has been nothing but trouble since fitting so rather then waste £100 on another unknown box, i paid £170 to rebuild my old box. Which consisted of new bearings, new syncros either side of 3rd and a new 3rd, everything else was given the once over and is fine so ill be fitting that tonight.

Did you rebuild the box yourself or get a company to do it?

Its been a while, i didnt update this last year at all so ill try to remember everything. It was a quite year up until around july when i decided to do a front end rebuild, which would consist of new:

Shocks
Driveshafts
Whole gearlinkage system

I replaced the wishbones, track rods and drop links but no pictures of them. I had a fair few stone chips on the bonnet and what id call laquer grazing as it wasnt peeling it was like grooves in the paint on the roof, i also had rust starting to appear from under the aerial base. So i booked it in at a bodyshop id heard good things about and got them to respay the bonnet, roof and weld in a new piece around the aerial base.

Sadly i had some bad luck the night i picked it up, the cambelt snapped.....bastard!

While i was getting ready to repair it i got myself a cheap run around, a volvo s40 full service history 12 months mot and 88k on the clock for.... £100....bargin!

Anyway back to the saxo. I had 8 bent valves so i bought a new head has it skimmed and pressure tested, all was good, so i spent a couple of hours fitting it all. It all went well and ran fine apart from noise lifters which i hoped with a little drive they would fill up and go quite, they didn't so i got 16 brand new INA ones from euro car parts. Turns out they wernt INA lifters they were shite ones repackaged which failed and after 10 miles it went bang again and started misfiring badly. A lifter had fell apart and jammed the valve open...you can guess what happened.

By this point id had enough of this engine and wanted a fresh start with an engine i new was good, what better way to do this then to buy another donor car. So i found a low milage car that had more holes then swiss cheese.

Once i got the engine all swapped over i decided to fit the bucket seat but wanted an ultra low frame so found the company on ebay who use to sell the jr low subframe contacted them and they still had a few so i got one ordered.

I also decided i wanted cams and a new manifold so £800 lighter i had what i wanted.

Then i decided to refurb my winter wheels and ordered 4 new rainsport 3's off camskill

I used it like that till the middle off January this year when i needed new brakes and fancied a change wheel wise, so i did what any normal person would. I went on demon tweeks and ordered ebc yellow stuff front and rear pads and discs along with 4 new wheels.

And all fitted

Thats it all up to date after my year of ups and downs with the car, im back in a happy place with the car

Enjoy the essay.
