i agree wit you mate if i was to fit an engine in it would be the vts as its more modern.. but i aint got 2k to spend on parts and wot not but if i did i probly would work on the engine before it went in my vtr as everyone else said it would be easyer n stuff but it wont be for a while so we'll jus have to see wot happens

Most things you can uprate later anyway, its just easiest to do it all in one go. I did everything from engine mount to a new exhaust system.
Can get lumps and boxes wit the loom and an ECU for 300 nowadays. I wouldnt personally fit a second hand engine without at least changing the cambelt and tensioner/idler which is another £80, and Id prob do the headgasket too depending on mileage but its all upto you mate, depends on your plans for the car really
Im not a mechanic mate no, but im pretty handy with a spanner. Rebuilding two engines in my garage at the mo, and Ive changed every component on my car.
And yeah thats why I did it too, problem with going out and buying a new car is that with your current one you know every inch of it, whats in greta nick and whats not. With a new one you could get lucky and buy a minter, but its very possible youll buy a dog thats been prettied up for sale. Lot of my mates have had that happen, and not stupid mates either.

Fair play, its deffo the way to do it just whacking an engine you know nowt about is asking for trouble. Cool, that would look great on a MK1 Ive never seen it on anything other than a MK2 before.
Could do it for £250 plus petrol money to yours if necessary which will be no more than £25 at the very most Can also get all servicing parts and assemblies before I leave at trade price, so will be very cheap.
That part you can never be fully sound on, theres always an element of risk. But you can reduce that risk by buying from the right people, adverts with little to no info are a no go. If they can confidently answer every question you have youve got a good chance its a good one. Plus as youll be rightly changing the timing belt etc anyway theres not an awful lot that dcan go wrong after that. Like I said I can help you source one when the times comes

Cheers matey . And yeah that would be fine with me too, when you thinking of doing it? Your about 80 miles from me which is cool, would probs cost me 30 in petrol.
Both will have to be sorted out in advance, Im free a lot at the moment but thats because of the rebuild, when thats done Ill be getting my job back and starting Uni again soon too so will have to make sure theres a date we can work with
Will only take me a weekend, possibly even just a day if all goes well and nothings overly seized up, to get the conversion done.

You send off the V5 and get it changed to a VTS, then just insure it as a VTS mate

Year doesnt change mate, its still the same year of original registration that counts.
And yeah worked on a few lads cars on here, a lot of cars off here too. Kept 4 mates at Uni's cars alive aswell this year lol, saw me working on my car and I got roped in whenever they needed something doing.
Im a very trustworthy guy, will let you know whats happening at every stage. In the extremely unlikely event I break something Ill pay for it out of my own pocket too.

Good replies ben
Yeah LeeM i'm brians brother. I wish you kept that bloody engine crane (if it was you who borrowed it), taking up pure room in the garage lol.
His cars nearly done, he just needs to do accellerator cable.
Hes got all the blue hoses (spoox i think) and chrome bits in his engine bay. Hes got leather interior on the inside, and outside is pretty much standard. So its a beast under the bonnet, subtle and luxury inside and standardish on the outside. I'm currently spraying his morrettes for him.

Cheerz maaaaan.
Your bros car sounds epic. Deffo get him to post it up, not many people do everything properly, although more and more are now like.
Im fed up of havng the car off the road due to my shenanigans lol, building up a high spec lump in my garage with all the best parts and fitting a slightly tuned one into the car to tide me over. It sounds gay but its kinda cool having an engine in the garage on its own stand that you can tweak to perfection. Its like being a big kid lol
