Not sure about the first bit, but its dead easy to get the dials out of the dash, theres a guide knocking about on here aswel showing how to do it step by step.

The digital display showing total milage and stuff is done the same way, you un solder the existing 2 smd's behind the display once the dials are taken out and solder on new ones!
The dials can be removed by removing the 3 10mm bolts that hold the steering column in place and then there is just about enough room to remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the speedo surround! Thats how I did myne!
Be very careful removing the needles on the dials as they have to go back exactly where they came from!
I marked my dials with a very small tip red felt pen so in knew they went back in the correct place otherwise all the guages may read wrong... you could be speeding or out of fuel without knowing!
Thats how i did myne and the piccys are on page 22 i think! I resprayed the surrounds and backing too!

Not really! took me 1.5 hours to unsolder and resolder the leds let alone taking it all apart and putting it all back together again... Also I ran into a few other problems that set me back about 3/4 hours... lol

not really, I didnt read mt post above, you can get it all out by removing 3 bolts that hold the steering column to the car!
SMD's are a dimmer version of an led but be warned the connections you have tol solder to are very small, I used a magnifying glass, head torch and a pin needle soldering iron wasnt too bad then!

green is the most visable color to the human eye and red is the least visable, randon factoid! red would work still though! so long as you have the white dials!
