the leds you need are: SMD PLCC-2 LEDs
you can get quite a few different colours for them.. iv got a spare set of dials that Im think about doing UV/Purple.
14 just to do them number (15 for a VTS/GTi)
then additional ones if you want to do headlight/indicators etc.

The mark 1 dials dont use LEDs.. they use standard bulbs but the dial facias have colored filters in them.

I'm guessing the bulbs are only standard 12v ones though so could you not replaced them with LEDs instead?
I'll be ripping my dash / dials out next week so till them I'm kinda shooting blind.

you can replace them will LEDS, but will need to run a 12v live to the leds and use resistors as well. I THINK you can also replace them with these http://www.crazyleds.co.uk/crazyleds...-1-pr-159.html. But you will also have to replace the dial facias because they have green filters.

Cheers Matty, last question, do I need to remove the dash to get at the dials or something? :-S
Just been out and had a look at mine and can't see how to get them out.
Found 2 screws which hold the outer plastic dash cover in place and one more near the top but still can't get the unit out.
Heeeeeeeeeelp!
