Right minor minor update really, not even worthy of mentioning but fark it.

I fitted my comps back at christmas but was too lazy to mount the crossovers permanently... anyway after several issues with the speakers suddenly dying because the wires were frayed I decided to get that job over with... fitted yay

At the same time I replaced a couple of door popper things because I'd shafted most of them and the front of the door card was loose now tightly fitted.

Adjusted the brake pedal travel too... Now this has been top of my list since I bought the car but again, failed the 'could be arsed' test, today I passed... first attempt was well and truly over done and it left the brakes in a situation where they were permanently on, felt bloody good at stopping (obviously), not so good on my precious mpg anyway... now I sorted the 'overcorrection' these 266's are really showing there credentials off.... love love love them

266's ROCK!

What this means is my gains are more than it appears which is cool.

Does your de-cat have a faux box where the cat would normally be? the cat box itself also aided Engine Exhaust pulse tuning, without it your torque profile gets altered (usually for the worse) which was why I was thinking it was a bit low considering the other mods you had done.

Mine always seems to have quite low figures on Rolling Roads ... It's strange. Well spotted about the whole max RPM thing. How on earth it's able to reach that when the hard limiter is set @ 7250 is beyond me. Makes me think all this Rolling Road business is bollocks.

I'll just have to get my car on their rollers again once it's cammed and see what the difference is. It goes ok on the road so can't complain.

R.E De-Cat ~ Haven't got a faux box ... The de-cat is just a straight flow pipe from the manifold to the Magnex centre section. Agreed I think this is why the torque figure is lower, but mehhh.

Yes, RRs are good for camparisons of your own engine alterations, and also tuning. One off visits can leave you more puzzled than you started off with!

Good increase in max BHP Ads. How did other things change, such as the torque in general, and BHP through the RPM range?

could be just that then... but yeah the figures are bollocks if the company doesn't set the rpm right

I've just had a quick check and... here's what I can see...

Area under torque profile has increased (good for overall drivability/OTR performance).
Significantly less torque below 3000rpm (almost 12ftlb less at 2000rpm! but less of a difference as you climb the revs)
More torque above 3000rpm to limiter - most gains between 3500-5000 (extra 7lbft roughly in that area).
6lbft increase in peak torque to 114.6lbft.
wheel power 5hp increase at peak... overall more area under the wheel power profile.
Wheel drag power has reduced by 4 hp at peak... and only reduced between 6600 and limiter, the rest of it is almost bang on the same... my guess is that on the first outing my front wheels weren't balanced which would have increased loading and unloading forces on the rollers per revolution of the wheel (worse effects the faster they're spinning), as a result increasing the wheel drag up top, this is good also from the fact that the bigger brakes aren't having a significant effect on the wheel inertia either.
Overall though... improvements right where I want them so I'm happy. haha

Very good figures on the RR dude. I would be very chuffed with anything like that. I need to get mine done once i've put my de-cat back on.

When you need things flowing more freely, like when moving to a higher spec cam, you will need the cat removed, that's for definite Ads.

as said above to Ferg, if the catalytic material is removed from the box (so you decat with a faux box instead of a straight pipe), then I can imagine some gains (although not as much as people suggest).

I'm not sure it is for definite man! I think removing the backboxes and leaving the Cat would be better than the traditional way.... I'd like to know where a lot of this information regarding tuning comes from... I'm sure most of it stems from a time when new technologies were introduced and were, at the time, more restrictive but I don't think it applies to the same extent these days... anyway onwards with the research!!!!

in the flow of gas, they're very heavily related mate... when the exhaust valve opens you have a high pressure point at the cylinder and the low pressure point at the atmosphere. the higher the difference between the pressure da fasta da flo.......
