Besically everyone who fronts is a cunt end of.
If you crash in a modded saxo they are going to know its not your mums and they will not pay out.
They will also send people out to watch the car to see who drives it more as well as looking at things inside the car to give an idea to who the main driver is and can quiz the people who are down to drive the car.
Basically you will get found out eventually, why not just get the insurance in your name and put your mum or dad as a named driver as that will reduce the policy by about £200 that way its legal to.
Oh the joys of being old and paying £500 fully comp with protected no claims and everything else on a car far better than a saxo.

That makes it sound like you are saying someone in the hosue must be fronting

I think what he is trying to say is that if there are 3 people living in a house and 3 cars kept there, and the insurance policies are 2 in 1 parents name, 1 in the other, the chances are the 3rd person is driving 1 of the 2 cars insured by one parent more than the parent is?

As Sky Insurance said, they will pay out to the Third Party but then will start proceedings to recoup the money from you. So, basically, its like having no insurance.

I know what he ment, I was just being awkward
It just wasnt plain & clear as to what he was getting at. I have 2 policies both are my own etc, just the way he said it made it sound like that was the case for ALL if you know what I mean

tell your brother to learn to drive then, fuck it, make him resit his test, was clearly a fluke !
if i was the insurance company and you kept claiming off me because your clearly driving like a knob then i would have to increase everyone else's premium to counter balance this.
it's really harsh the way the world works, but unfortunately it's the type of shit we live in, in this day and age anyway.
i believe everyone should have a band, much like tax, starting of whereby you pay £x for the car you drive and age, 1NCB it goes down, 2NCB it goes further down...almost an incentive to drive sensibly i guess...

I agree with you mate, except the starting cost needs to be a realistic amount such as £1000, then it goes down for every year claim free. Therefore fronting, for some, including me when I used to be a named driver, is the only realistic way.

Never needed to front my insurance, dont see why anyone else should, I have never paid more than 1500 fully comp from the age of 17, im now 19 and getting quotes for 1700 on a skoda octavia vrs, if you front your insurance you dont build up a ncb anyway which is what brings your insurance down.

Nothing wrong with a HDI, or a VRS either.
Clearly it's you who knows nothing about cars, I'd take a HDI over your 1.1i anyday.
And he's got a point, insured my car @19 FC for £900, because Ive been under my own name since I passed...

I lol'd reading this XD
The reason insurance companies charge so much is because they can and people just take it like bitches saying "well we have to pay it" it's the insurance companies fault that so many people front and that so many people "wern't" insured, they look for a reason not to pay if they can, my bike instuctor knew someone with a modded scooby, the lad put down all the mods he thought were on the car but unfortunaly he had a fire the car was detroyed and they didn't pay out because he didn't have the crome fuse cover down on the list of mods, bit of a piss take I thought considering everything else was listed and it was a genuine mistake. If you put a sticker on the side of the car from a tuning manufactorer even if the car isn't modded your insurance is invalid.
I agree that people shouldn't front but there's no reason that people shouldn't be restricted for a period of time after passing your test, if you pass your bike test on a 125 your only allowed to ride a bike with 33 bhp for the first two years then after that your allowed to ride anything, something like this would help reduce fronting as they wouldn't be allowed to drive more powerfull cars.
At the end of the day it's the insurance companies ripping us off and nobody else.
And as for "more of the threat" and "showing off" crap I'm 22 and own a 600cc motorbike capable of 150 mph and 60 mph in a few seconds, surely my car insurance should be pennies compared to being 1 grand more expensive than my bike insurance 0.o as there is no point in me trying to show off in a car :/
