Yeah, its alive...
Took the oil restrictor off (as has always been in previous years), fitted the new oil drain, fired her up... and the smoke / tiny drips of oil remain.
So, looks like the turbo needs a rebuild. LOL.
Will be packaging the car up to GMC in next couple of days...

I didnt have much time to work on the car this evening after getting back from the Bolton Abbey meet. The good news though is that my re-wire of the ECU/loom worked a treat
My next priority is finding someone to trailer/flat-bed my car upto Scotland!

Been a manic couple of days - been trying to get the afternoons off work, but things keep going wrong Anyway, put a few late hours in this evening and seem to have achieved quite a lot.
'Borrowed' some cracking crimps, which I've made good use of to sort out the battery cables as part of my battery re-location. This job was SO easy with a decent set of crimps!
I bought a 3-pole junction box from Tweeks a month or so back. That's now in place and wired up. I just need to connect the loose end up to the battery. Will have to do that when I whip the car out of the car port.
After a couple of delays, I've now got the induction pipe completed. Its almost as designed, which is good I still need to source a new larger air filter - in the pic, the cone is just resting on the pipe to show the pipe run. I'm looking to source a K&N but the universal sizes are no use that Ive seen so far, so could take a bit longer than I would like
I gave the boost/induction pipes a 5minute polish to take the grain/haze off the pipe. I think They'll shine nicely once polished properly!
The only jobs I think I'm going to do now, before sending the car away is wiring the battery up, re-mount the oil catch tank and fit the front bumper. Everything else I have planned might have to wait until the car returns from GMC.
Will try to get the car finished tomorrow, if not, will have to finish on Monday as I'm away this weekend. STILL need to organise a trailer/flat bed too - any suggestions?!

Filter dimensions...
Max 8" diameter, max 7" length, conical or cyclindrical... with a 2.5" outlet to induction pipe.
Ive only looked at a very limited range so far, but anything bigger than the minimum size seems to have outlets of 4", upwards... which doesnt fit with my plan

Give this search a try for an air filter:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/universal.aspx
Regarding a flatbed and getting it to GMC, you got breakdown coverage that covers being towed to a garage if you've broken down?!

Simo, on the junction box what have you got coming in/out
I see wire 3 (green line cover) is to the fuse box.
I guess wire 2 would be to where the battery is now.
whats the first one?

Re: Simo's Turbo re-build Progress (was Changing Turbo Orientation)
Thanks for the link... Much more choice there
As said, wire on the left goes to the starter motor/alternator.

I needed to get the car out of the car-port today so I could rip the carpet out to re-locate the battery behind the passenger seat, but as it will NOT stop raining long enough, I've turned my attention to a little more cleaning/preparing under the bonnet.
In the first photo below you can see the new shiny bits in the bay... then you see the god awful mess around the scuttle panel This was what I've just cleaned up and sorted out. Will look good once the plastic trims, etc are back on!
I have to go away this weekend, so the car will need to wait until Monday evening now before the final couple of jobs can be done. With this wait inevitable, I've took the plunge and ordered a few more bits and pieces from Tweeks (really should try and sort a discount out - their prices are scandalous!!)
So, unless the bits arrive tomorrow, I'll take delivery on Tuesday. New battery box, oil catch tank and a few odd's and sod's.
Really looking forward to stripping the interior out and prepping/painting and getting the front cage in, but that will have to wait until I get the car back from GMC.
Almost there!!

nice to see this all came together in the end! looking pretty sweet!
Wanted to know few things which others might be interested in
What size is the SPAL fan/pacet whatever brand it is?
How many rows is the oil cooler your running?
And I have a friend that would love to know where you got the power cable junction box from if you have a link?
I hope to see this at FCS this year!

Re: Simo's Turbo re-build Progress (was Changing Turbo Orientation)
Hi, it's a pacet/kenlowe fan although i'm not sure of the size... Can check when I get back home.
The junction box was from demon tweeks. They sell both 2 & 3 pole battery junction boxes. If you go to their site and search battery in the Motorsport section it will show up.
The oil cooler I think is a 19row. I used to use a 10row but found a 19 kept temps always on the mark.
