I actually think its quite random but will check up on how its going, not my cup of tea personally but people on here tend to forget that the majority of them were drooling over max power bodykitted cars and "slammed" euro style everything at some point. Your actually maintaining the car mechanically which is more than most so you carry on mate.

To be fair to OP - the true "rat" style meant having a ratty body but immaculate chassis / drivetrain. Now, the saxo is never going to be anything to make people stop and go "wow" but they're so cheap and undesirable these days why not make it look utter toss and drive it into the ground? Better than scrapping it I suppose.

any more work done to this since september? I'm enjoying it even if many aren't. Id like to see it lowered and punch a hole in the exhaust.

It's been a while. A long while. Shame on me!
I travel a lot for work and thought this car wasn't up to the challenge.
1250 miles Every 3 weeks for work.

So I got a BMW 5 series. Maintained well and unmodified.
I couldn't get rid of the rat though I love the thing too much. Never wanted for nothing and was fun.
So it sat there, handbrake on, flat battery In a corner not touched once.

Then my BMW died - after spending hundreds on the cooling system to pre empt any failures due to the cooling systems being a major weak point - 3 months after the overhaul, it now overheats so is sat here unusable to prevent gasket damage etc etc.

Anywhooooo....

The Saxo - I went back to it today, like a slut begging for one more chance

Washed it, out the battery in charge, cleaned it out, checked fluids and got underneath with hammerite. Booked a mot for tomorrow.

Put batterie back In and turned on instantaneously with a click of the key like it has been off only a day, handbrake hadn't seized one but not the brakes - took it for a quick spin Down the land. As f it had never been forgotten. Talk about guilty.

Let's hope it passes tomorrow as can be used once more. Miss it. More ratting to do

You lot rule also of course.

For the record. This was the BMW that broke.

It failed. Minor things. Need a steering gaitor. Swap to wheels round. Minor exhaust leak needs attention. And that's it. Will have it on the road soon enough !!

Got it passed yet?

I had a 2003 320ci m-sport on 170k miles which i had changed the engine on and had issues with the cooling system. It never over heated but loved to pee it self, firstly found the header tank had cracked (common issue) then few months later radiator had warped like a banana (common issue) and then it still lost coolant every now and then, just sold it and gave up with it in the end

Annoying isn't it.
Found the culprit. My brand new thermostat was broken. So for now I have no thermostat while I move house so I can use it. Genuine OEM one on the way now.

Saxo shall be fixed and moted again within months.
