Yeah, I'm counting it as the £835 I worked out as I already had the wheels strut braces and the exhaust. Thats all been swapped over from the VTR.

Now I need to decide...

Do I:

A) Swap the VTS stuff into the VTR and sell the rest?
B) Sell the VTR as it stands?
C) Strip, clean up, rebuild the VTR and sell?

Basically, come summer time I want to insure 1 of them on my own If I can. We "might" end up moving and so I won't have the space for the works car, Nic's Golf and two Saxo's.

Ideally we'll stay where we are, but even so... I don't want to have one car sat here rotting away when I could sell it and use the funds.

I'll be having a good think over Christmas and then hopefully putting a plan into action in the new year.

In the mean time, Both cars are sat on the drive looking very sorry for themselves. I need to get a set of covers for them!

Nic's Golf is now taking it's turn in the garage. I think the head gasket has gone so I'll be getting that sorted over the Christmas break! I need to get that car going! She's pulling her hair out at me about it! lol.

Well, I hope you all have enjoyed reading this thread so far. I hope I can provide some more entertainment for you all after Christmas with a few more thrills at track days, and I HOPE I can get some insurance so I can turn out to a few meets in the thing! hahaha.

Votes for:

1 - Stick the VTS lump and looms into the VTR and breaking the rest
2 - Leave them as they are and sell the VTR?

Just post 1 OR 2

Not a lot going on at the moment.

Need to get the missus car sorted this week then I can get the wheel bearings sorted. Once thats done, I need to try and get it on the road or by a trailer for it!

Either way, looks like I've gotta get some pennys saved up!

Well, a little bit of progress and a VERY nice surprise today!

Managed to get 5 minutes and fit the solid 20mm spacers i'd picked up for the excellent sum of £30!!! With extended bolts. These will do nicely until I can get some nuts for my stud conversion.

I'm going to order some new Wheel bearings and get them done asap. But before I went on to eBay I thought i'd have a quick scan through the latest copy of PFC that landed on the doormat this morning. Got all the way through and thought i'll have a look and see what guys have been put in the spotted section....

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called me Alan Poole but never mind!!!!!

WELL....FUCKING.....CHUFFED!!!

Now I know some people will say "urg, it's only a little thing, any one can get in that!" BUT, If you know me or have seen any of my facebook/region gen chat posts, you'll know that things haven't really been going too well recently. Nothing major but just daft shit keep's going wrong! So this has really cheered me up! It's the first time something I HAVE done has got any coverage.

Hope you all like it. Maybe tomorrow, I'll wake up and manage to start fixing things rather than breaking them!

Haha nice one Alan, you've definitely put some effort into that car, well deserved . Maybe I will see you soon at Anglesey in my little can, if I can get a roll cage in quick enough!

Cheers chap's.

Harv, Don't worry about a cage for Anglesey. You'd be REALLY unlucky to screw up bad enough to roll there. I know it's never impossible but as long as your chassis mods are sorted and your not top-gun'ing it into every corner, you'll be fine.

I'm really impressed with this Alan, it will hopefully put a stop to people saying you need to spend thousands to go on a track day and have fun! Great work.

Done Anglesey a few times and I know what you mean the barriers are miles away but I just want a cage in just incase, especially after some of the accidents I've seen (not at Anglesey though). Looking at getting a proper weld in but just calculating some costs before I commit to anything.

It will 100% be completed by June though . There's a great day with circuit days at Anglesey in June I think it is doing the International in the morning and the Circuit in the afternoon. Love the circuit track, its fantastic for the hot hatches!

Really nice to see that you can have fun and build something with a next to nothing budget. Also well done with the magazine article, although they got your name wrong and also a spelling mistake LOL

TBH Harv, the full day's are better, I don't feel like I have to flog the car to death to get my monies worth. and I prefer the full track to the "club" courses. but I guess it would be a laugh to try the different layouts. Especially if they use the hairpin at the top of the hill... I LOVE that section!

Deffo going to get a day or two booked for summer. I'm going to see if I can wangle a last minute day at Oulton Park and I'll book another day somewhere else too.

PLUS Paul and I will more than likely do Anglesey in December again!

Hopefully Rich84 will have his car done by then too

MS-VTR; Yeah i re-read the spelling mistake as my eye's registered it but my brain went "eh?" I think I might start using Alan Poole as an AKA though... I like the ring of it hahaha.

Here's some pics of the car from yesterday. Still need to get the wing mirror refitted. and I still need to do the wheel bearings and give it a wash but no too bad considering!

Well, absolutely GUTTED that the guy that was meant to trailer the car over to the rolling road day bailed on me at half nine the night before leaving me NO time to organise another mode of transport!

Absolutely GUTTED!!!!!!!!!!

The RR day was a great laugh non-the-less!

Made me think about boost seeing mandyslover's budget-bodge-it setup.

So i've got to thinking....

Going to get the Missus Golf sorted so she's off my back and able to take my time with the Saxo's.

The VTR will be stripped out and the billies, mods, seat, and engine will be transplanted over.

I'm going to do it properly and transplant the looms as well so it will hopefully be a straight swap with no issues!

I'm going to start by stripping the VTR to a bare shell and selling everything as I go that way I can then treat any rust or problem areas as I uncover them. If it turns out that the shell is past in then I can bin it and not have to worry about having swapped other parts into it.

I'll keep the VTS as it is for now until the blue shell is prep'd and ready. Then the parts from the Red shell can be swapped over and the last few parts can be sold off the blue shell.

After that, I want to get a cage fitted along with another seat and harness and hopefully some PH3's and some sticky tyres!

If I can get my hands on the cams and tyres before I swap everything over then great! I can use them on the VTS until i'm ready to swap into the blue shell.

In the mean time.... Were looking for a new house (with a better garage!) so hopefully I'll be able to afford the insurance on the VTS! lol.

Manchester has got too much for us now... especially with the noise from the neighbours and the threats they have been making recently don't help!

WELL... Hopefully the next update from me will have a fixed golf and a link to some parts for sale

If you've read the VTR blog and want anything then let me know.

Home brew turbo kit basically rather than one bought from gmc or similar.

Was just impressive to see that he'd got all the bits, put them together and got an okay result with it considering it looked a bit ramshackle!! lol.

I think the list of stuff he's used is in his progress thread.

Yeah.... Forgot his name lol!

Yeah, it looks like a right bodge job but it all works and considering the issues he had with it, it went pretty well too.

Made me see how easy it is to do really. Once I've got the cars sorted I might have to have a play with a similar setup.
