Well story of my saxo vts so far

Was bought back in 2007 with the intention of being built as an N2 rallye car
So found a clean early model vts with no aircondition for less fuss with locking extra holes. The engine was past its lifetime with 220K Kms on it and very badly serviced that a hydraulic lifter had shattered in the head

So managed to drive the car to my place and swapped the engine with an other
After 4 days of ownership i took part in a sort o gymkhana race in my local Kart track and first place it was for its first outing also first ever photo of it

Next day and the bad boy headlight covers , awfull 15' pantera?!?! wheels and a load of chavy stuff from the interior where binned.

Nearly a week later took part in tuner GP race in Athens , managed to get 9th place in my category of 29 1,6 lt cars , but also managed to blow the engine as all piston rings where fried causing oil fumes to fill the whole engine bay resulting in a small fire on the exhaust manifold

Engine was taken apart and fair bit of money to a medium-bad mechanic new set of piston rings , cleaned standard bore ,skimmed head , a pair of standard cam shafts ( as the "mechanic" managed to break the inlet one ) and a metal head gasket and engine was up and running

so 3 years of taking part in any sort of super lap , gtcc in Patras or in Athens, or just practicing at my local kart track went by

Not many things where done to the car apart from a Quaife lsd , coilover 350 lb springs , vibratechniks engine and gearbox mounts and fully stripped interior

Reaching up to about November 2011 my brother and i decided to dismantle the vts to give it a respray in white and a bit off a fine tuning .....

Off course not everything comes as planned and the vts got left behind as our transport company had to come in first .

In the past 1,5 year we have been resourcing different parts:
full jp4 engine for back up ,
set of low mileage brembo 4 pots ,
had the bilstein suspesion fabricated to race spec !
got a set of compomotive 15' that clear the brembos
full weld in roll cage

So with the vts fully stripped

finally being loaded last Monday to go have its roll cage!!!!!

Roll cage being fitted

And this is where the vts stands

Any comments are more than welcome!

No sunroof as it cost 1250 Euro about 1k pounds as an extra... !!!
Also you lot get the non aircondition so saves you the welding up the holes!

Small update

Roll cage is slowly coming to the front arches , just waiting for my reinforcing plates for the strut tops.

Bucket seat on old Sparco base , clearly being ditched for weld in seat bars as now i only have 2-3 cm from top X on the roll cage

Seem welding the engine bay:

As always comments and ideas are most welcome!

Roll cage has been filled in , sanded down and primed.

dashboard has been modified extensively for an original fitment look , got a spare steering wheel mechanism and took the key stalk out

Also went ahead and trial fitted my engine with an empty gearbox so as to see how to modify my gear lever as i am changing to one from a C3...

Sorry for crappy iphone night photos

as always opinions and suggestion most welcome

Also trial fitment of the battery box at the rear right side :

Also some pics of the 23mm torsion bars , and Pug1off track bush kit!

Nice Alex!

Do you mind if I make a suggestion? It's better to have the battery as low down and as central as possible in the car - behind a seat is a good place. If you've not run the cables yet, then perhaps there is a better option unless you cannot for other reasons?

Nothing is definite yet , i thought it would be better at the back for corner weights, also there is no room behind the drivers seat as i am 1.9m tall and 88kg so the seat is going to be really back, wait till you see the steering wheel
also it the battery has to be in a insulated box via regulations

thanks for the idea though
