The floor on the drivers side had a bit of surface rust so rather than leave it and some garage monkey get shirty about it come mot time, I thought is give it a rub down and I've given it a coat of hammerite direct to rust primer/treatment then some rattle cans from halfrauds. Not the best job BUT what is on this car! Lol. It's a bit of a rush to get it sorted but to be honest, I don't mind. It just has to drive well and not fall apart... I guess that's the main thing with every car

I wouldn't say dirty.... Street is what we'd call it back in the day lol. It's just functional... I'm trying to keep everything as functional and basic as possible. Lol.

I thought about gloss or matt black but then I'd get annoyed about where the red joins the black, the line would have to be neat or it would bother me... I get OCD about the daft little bits!!
Should look fine when it's all finished. Just need some dry evenings and my bank card to turn up tomorrow. I'll be able to get the rest painted by Saturday afternoon then.

FINALLY got my bank card!!!! Floor is now painted. No it's not a great job BUT the floor is now some shades of red rather than all sorts of rust, primer and paint! lol.
Got most of the wiring sorted, just needs sleeving up tomorrow and the dash refitting.
Widescreen fitter came this morning as well and fitted the new glass. It's SO clear!!!! I've given it a coat of Rain-X on the outside and I need to give the inside a quick clean and a coat of Rain-X, anti-fog. Should be fine for a few months then.
I'll edit this later on when I've got my pictures sorted as well.

Lol, I know... I really must sort them out
Yeah, should be. I got the dash in now so tomorrow I need to get an early start on it and get the dash tightened up, clocks etc in, then the wiring should be complete and I can see if she will start! Then I just need to get the seats in and the cage fitted then off to my uncles.
The plan has altered slightly as I'm going to leave the car with him over the week then go and pick it up the week after. that way he can take his time over it and sort any niggly bits he finds. Also, makes me a bit more confident in the whole car as I know he's had his eye over everything!

IT'S ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVVE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got the dash all tightened up, clocks in, all wired up, fitted the battery, turned the key...... ch ch ch ch vrooooommmmmmmbwarpbwarpbwarp!
Fuck ME, it's loud in their with no sound deadening!!!!!!! Can't WAIT to get the seats and cage in tomorrow and get it loaded onto the trailer!
Tomorrow needs to see the cage and seat mounts fitted and the seats lined up and ready to mount to the bases. Friday evening I need to get the trailer and load the car up, then I can finish off any loose ends after it's loaded or when we get the car off at the other end.
Getting REALLY excited now!!!!!!!!!!
Just hope nothing goes wrong!! It probably will do, it'll blow up or the van will fall through on me or something. I just know it!

Shit evening today. Put the rear half of the cage in, bolted it down then tried to put the front half in... Nope, scratched the shit out if the floor and a wing then remembered that I need to put both bits int, line them up THEN bolt them down!! :banghead:

Well, back home now, with no Saxo in the drive
Car was taken to my uncles today for him to MOT and check everything is okay.
My GOD theirs a bit of work to do!!
I had to chop the dash for the cage to fit into the car to start with. Then with the cage in, it doesn't look like it needed cutting after all, just putting in after the cage is thrown into the car but not fitted in place!!
Got that all sorted, then got the seat in... no dramas as I just used my old set up as the new bases will need holes drilling to fit properly.
Got the car up on the 4 post lift, took off the sill trims...... SHIT!!! lot's of rust!! More than I thought!!
Upside is, it's all repairable... down side is, I might be picking the car up the night before the trackday, if at all!! It might not get done in time if the garage gets busy with full paying customers!!
Anyway, heres a few pictures from yesterdays and todays work.

Sort of. It's all doable but it's going to take a while. He reckons it might be done in time for the track day, might not though if things get busy in the garage. Just got to see really.
If it doesn't get done, My cousin has said he'll bring his BMW up that he's stripped out for track use... but never got it on the track yet!

Well, after the trackday, like I said, I think i'll get the engine out and give the bay some attention. The floor will get sprayed again to cover all the scratches I put in it. and the bay will get and rust took out and a coat of paint too. Also gives me an excuse to sort any bits of unneeded loom out etc.
Think the cars pretty much their for the big bits. Need a manifold but other than that, I'm happy with it for a bit. Just want to drive the bugger now!!
Next year hopefully will see a few trackdays and if things go well, maybe some cams and a remap... Then, who knows!!

Well, HOLY CRAP!!
Looks like it might get done at this rate. Had some very good photos sent over by my cousin this evening. He's had to chop out a LOT more than we first thought but has rebuilt the two rear sills around the jacking points! Now he's got to look at the fronts and see what they are like. :-/ Hopefully they'll be either better or in a similar state and he can blitz through them too.
I'll do a full write up of whats been done when I get the car back. that way i'll be able to get the proper photos not whatsapp ones and do a bit of a better write up.
