Cheers guys, plan of attack with this is trailer it to the track so that should be happening sooner rather than later as I'm now back on full time at work so should have some spare cash kicking around each month

Put a bracket in to support the air filter, tidied the fan wiring up slightly and then opened the catch can up to give it a clean out. After a good cleanup of my tools, I found the clips for the constella linkages that stop them popping off the ball joints on the box etc. Was a bit fiddly putting them on but worth it as Ive had a linkages pop off before without them fitted and I dont want that happening when I use it on track.

Tell me about it, thank god for this warm weather as everything dried up so we could clean up the garden and garage. Nothing worse than your garage smelling of sewage and stagnant canal when working on your car

Drain old oil into this and proceeded to get oil on the lens
Removed this from the sump and cleaned it up, and sealed with a new washer it as it was leaking a drop or two
Fitted new oil filter and refilled with this

Been out for a spin this up the local farm track with my dad and discovered the transmission has a bit of a whine. It could be partially the tyres causing it but even so I've slammed in some of this as I'm only using Comma mineral 75w80
Its a touch better but its only been in an hour so I'm going to wait and see what happens. If its not better over time that I'm going to try a different grade in the box, maybe something more "tech" and put some of this wynns stuff in.
Last resort is run it until it goes boom or another box. I dont really want to kill an S1 unit as I'd prefer to rebuild it so if anyone has a good box (ie: no VTRs!) for not a lot of cash I'd appreciate it. That'll have to wait until pay day I reckon though as I've been spending loads on the Clio. Always something to sort out with these cars! haha

After going to shelsey walsh yesterday I decided to have an early night and crack on with this today. I started with the arb plate - bolt had done a runner and stripped the thread too so I had to drill and retap the hole for a bigger bolt:
After that was done I decided it was a good time to whip the rallye box out ready to slip in its replacement when it arrives.

Yeah so much crap has to come off just to get at it, plus its oily. Humid as hell round here today as well, not the best weather to be working in. Hopefully the new box will turn up quickly so I can get it in this week

How much do you reckon it'd cost in parts to rebuild? Obviously I'd want to do it all the syncros bearings, seals etc
Either rebuilt or not Id sell to recoup some money

Thats what I'm thinking. Its got a very slight whine in first and second gear but i'm not sure how much of that could be the 888s on the road? Still changes gear fine and so on. Its a shame to kill in out on track if as it'll only get worse, plus its a bit too low in the final drive for the rev limit I run I guess
