Cam shaft oil seal
Just fitting the cam shaft oil seals on the 16v head. Quick question, when you fit the seal does it just have to be flush or do you push it down the shaft as far as it goes?

Cheers Cam I thought so. One on the left was done before the ladders went on. Second slipped on no bother.

Just throwing a spanner in the works here,, I've always pushed mine on as far as they will go and never had a problem, what potential problems could arise if this is wrong?

To be honest I can't see problems from either. Oil behind the seal and as long as the cam ladders are sealed well it's going nowhere.

ive always pushed them in on other engines and advised someone to do the same on here couple years ago.. which was wrong apparently and several ppl spat their dummies.
theres allegedly an oil drain behind the seal which will be blocked if you push it all the way in
ive seen many like that with no problems in the past..but answering youre question.. flush

There's a small oil hole to the back of the seal hence not pushing them all the way in.
Push they flush or a tad beyond flush.
EDIT: can see the hole on the right hand camshaft with no seal fitted at the bottom.
