I would love a 20vT mk2

I'll keep an eye on this (already following the progress on ed38)

I do love the vr6 engine, just wish it was more powerful. The noise is amazing.
BAM would be the way I'd go if I had the money to chuck at it. The AUQ doesn't really tickle my pickle.

Jay - there's GPS info embedded in your photos which gives away the cars location. Might want to get that stripped out. PM me if you need help with that or whatever - when you've done it I'll remove this comment.

I'm intrigued as to what prompts you to look for things like that in photos Ross? I know how to look for them and remove them etc but never feel the inclination to look.

I have a browser plugin that when you hover the mouse over the image it tells you cool stuff about the image (what camera it was taken on, what settings used, date time and (if available) GPS details. I don't go looking for the GPS data it's just embedded and when I mouse over the image it shows the google map. Kinda hard to miss:

I'm back!
After our holiday, I came back and did a little more stripping (The car, you dirty lot!). I started removing more engine ancillaries first of all.
I then managed to remove the completely round bolt holding in the battery. I was worried about what I may find as I know the trays always rotting away.
Minus a little surface rust, it's good!
I then got around to taking a look at the rear arch properly. Crap...
The inner and outer arch are barely attached around the arch. You can go the whole way around with a screwdriver between them. I then had a look at the rear valance too...
And today I started stripping the interior, just so I could look and feel as though i'm still progressing...
And that is where i'm up to now!

Evening!
I've spent a couple of hours on the Mk2 the past week or so. Started by stripping the dash out, front carpet and getting the door off. The dash was simple enough until it came to the nuts in the rain tray. Even Maddy McCann wasn't as good as hiding as those! Oh, I also got a light in the garage too! There'll be another in there next week.
A light...
Me and Jetta (The dog) started on the dash...
Whipped a door off...
Started on the rear. Unfortunately a rounded bumper mount bolt stopped me getting that off...
Dash, front carpets and some sound deadening out...
I then started on the drivers side. Pulled the kick panel out and then the door rubber. Nice hole in the sill...
So, the whole idea is to strip the car 100% and have it dipped so i'm left with pure metal, or a lack of. Then, i'll start on the metal work.

Fucking hell Jay.
The rust to paint ratio is in favour of the rust.
Also, looks shit, it's no VTS

As I said last night, the rust isn't bad at all.
I wouldn't bother getting it dipped, you can see the crusty bits easily enough, just replace the rear valance and arches get that sill patched up and you're laughing.
I have pictures of the S14 at the welders from when I bought it, now that was scary.

Evening!
Another little bit of progress. I've continued stripping the rest of the interior and the drivers side of the car. 99% of the interior trim is now out. Drivers door is also off. I found a lovely hole underneath the rear seat which is around the size of a £2 coin. Not a massive issue. I then removed the drivers side arch trim to find it was a bit worse than I was hoping. But hey, I wanted something to learn with! The photos aren't in any particular order so ignore the fact the door keeps appearing/disappearing lol
Lots of dirt...
Holey floor...
Rusty quarter...
Front end...
I'm currently on the look out for a decent tank and compressor to allow me to use some air tools. Next up will to get the suspension component removed and then loom removal.

No idea why the photos don't work. They work on every other forum and it's copied and pasted. Also, if you copy the URL for them, they work too.
Fuck knows!

No photos at the minute. The car now has no engine or gearbox. Literally just this week had electricity put in the garage. Hopefully pull my finger out and make some progress soon.
