If you want better cooling you really need a bigger radiator. Also put a pressure gauge before and one after the intercooler to test efficiency

Fitting proper ducting to the rad will massively improve it's efficiency if the cost of a custom radiator is too much.

A good point with the pressure gauges, with rotrex's pressure drop is an issue.. Unlike turbos where they will just spin up harder to compensate a rotrex will only boost a set amount depending on revs so of your losing 2-3psi in your intercooler then your losing lots of power (maybe upwards of 20hp on 2-3psi drop)

If you're losing 2-3psi just from the intercooler, you've got a huge problem! Decent intercoolers should lose less than 1psi.

This was an example :/ thought that would of been obvious.

I'm aiming for 0.7 across the intercooler which is regarded as a low pressure drop..

You lose 1psi for every 180 degree bend the pipework takes, so folklore says, yeah 0.7 across the intercooler would be brilliant!

The biggest problem I see with 'charging of any kind is that the coolers end up stacked infront of each other.

It's certainly worth making absolutely sure the radiator you currently have is free from 'clogging' and doesn't have any bent fins, make the most of what you've got and if that means removing and subjecting it to a bout of "Drain-o" harsh cleaner, then do it!!

I'm loving this car, sexy_gt, how about going alanpones route and aerocatching a bumper on, then maybe have 2? a road legal one and one what's chopped to buggery?

I was thinking you could widemouth the bumper, then fill the sides of the widemouth to ram all of the air over the intercooler?

bu fill, maybe fiberglass etc so it's not entirely pikey, you could always go down the fan + bits of string + Anemometer route if you were that nerdy?

An under tray will aid cooling if you don't already have one, stopping the air buffeting underneath and giving it a clear path with a reduced air pressure behind would force more air through the rad.

Not everything everyone says is a criticism Danny. I wasn't being facetious.

yeah i know what you mean about the oil, inter and radiator coolers being stacked up etc... im sure i can murder the bumper some more, with ducting and block off any cool air escape routes.

the rad and intercoolers are old parts but fins are in good visible condition. inside the rad core looked very clean when i looked.

i have just been for a cheeky drive in it

ive had the dremel and sandpaper out again...

i may go a little more wider if not enough cooling offered. i have driven the car about town (f.king clutch sucks) and gave a squirt down the bypass today. i now have much better cooling and gauge looks much more normal readings.

i will be fitting a wide mouth insert thing too.

rather than have the oil coolant hoses drooping about restricting airflow (a tiny bit) i have tied them one behind the other. looks neater too.

i also fitted 16 new longer wheelbolts. the old ones rattled loose twice. they was not long enough before. now they are fine. look a bit shiney and gay.

What about something like an intercooler sprayer to keep the temps down? Or at least help some what.

stu you should mount the oil coolers where the fogs used to be

make some brackets up and get new hoses made if needs be

will give great cooling and reduce the "layers" of coolers all in one place..as it stands youve got your intercooler sandwhiched between two heat sources

that should help alot and will get more air to both the i/c and rad...not to mention the oil coolers
